As a valued colleague on our team, you will contribute to analysis of business transactions and financial information to determine and maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities.

Responsibilities

The Tax - Accounting - Senior Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities

  • Gather, document, and maintain financial information from relevant finance and accounting sources.
  • Analyze business and financial information to determine appropriate accounting treatment and record results with support from team and manager.
  • Develop reports to document assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and/or other financial results.
  • Provide analysis and explanations of financial results to ensure accuracy and support business decisions.
  • Design and execute accounting and financial operations processes and related controls.
Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experience
  • 2 years relevant experience for Senior Associate
  • 1 year relevant experience for Associate
Desired Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience for Senior Associate preferred
  • 1+ years of relevant experience for Associate preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • CPA highly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting procedures and methods, and the ability to apply them to complex transactions
  • Ability to absorb information and data from multiple sources, apply analytical skills, produce thoughtful and strategic recommendations, and communicate recommendations to stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience working with large data sets with the ability to manipulate data
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to adapt to changes in priorities, assignments, and processes
  • Prior experience in process improvement or automation preferred
  • Accounting experience in secondary mortgage market preferred
  • Experience preparing monthly and quarterly tax provisions and the quarterly tax reserve with sufficient documentation and referencing
  • Must be able to analyze tax data and reports to ensure compliance
  • Review and analyze business requirements to implement tax rule changes
  • Assist with IRS audits by reviewing and investigating compliance issues
  • Ability to prepare, deliver, and track document requests from IRS
  • Monitor and reply to tax department correspondence
  • Analyze system and data sources to improve productivity, accuracy, and timely submission of tax filings. Perform system testing.
  • Advise management regarding business, internal programs and activities as they relate to tax matters.
  • Ability to perform complex tax projects or participate as a team member on highly complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across the organization in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with the following tools: OneSource (Tax Provision and/or Income Tax), Microsoft Teams, Excel, SharePoint, Blackline, Tableau, JIRA, RiskWorks, SQL/TOAD (plus)
