Assistant Controller

Purpose of this Role:

The primary functions of the Assistant Controller are to prepare accurate and timely financial statements and maintain an adequate system of accounting records. The assistant controller will perform detailed balance sheet, revenue & expense variance analysis and will provide leadership for accounting staff through training on how to complete complex financial operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate, timely internal & external financial statements in accordance with our established schedule for banks and other clients
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and variances that should be brought to the Controller's attention
• Review all inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Delegate financial responsibilities to accounting team
• Conduct regular ledger maintenance
• Prepare and present management reports to appropriate business unit leaders
• Cash forecasting and prepare cash flow statements
• Perform Treasury Management function (ACH, wires, cash transfers)
• Prepare expense allocations for multiple office expenses
• Assist in the preparation of tax documents (income tax, property tax, license applications)
• Assist in annual audit
• Fixed Asset software maintenance
• Additional duties/ projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience with computerized ledger systems
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Highly detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to function well in a team-oriented environment

Training and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required (Master's or CPA preferred)
• 10+ years' experience in general or tax accounting
• Knowledge of Sage a plus
