POSITION SUMMARY:
The position acts as a lead in the department and is responsible for working directly with users to translate business requirements into use case documents for the IT department and vendor's software developers. This includes development of business requirements, and assisting in the design, testing, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of systems. This position is also responsible for the mentoring and career growth of other Business Analysts on the team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the user experience on the company websites, which includes the agent portal, insured portal and employee portal, and any other assigned company applications.
- Responsible for the integrations with third party vendors such as the policy administration system, document image and workflow system, and payment processing.
- Responsible for defining requirements, communicating changes to development staff, testing changes and coordinating implementation into production environment.
- Provide leadership and expertise as a Business Analyst on projects and tasks of complex nature
- Comprehend and thoroughly understand the company's business, and the issues and challenges facing the industry and organization.
- Review, modify, and recommend business requirements applied to company databases and system applications.
- Manage the execution of test plans and test scripts, including testing the solution, recording and tracking of technical issues, and implementing any needed changes.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
- Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies.
- Creates use cases and user stories documents.
- Writes and executes test plans and test scripts.
- Facilitates meetings between the Company and our vendors' software development teams
- Generates routine project status reports in the format and within the timelines requested by management.
- Lead meetings between the Company and our vendors' software development teams (business analysts, developers, project managers)
- Act as a mentor and provide resources and guidance to other Business Analysts on the team.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience, Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Business Analyst
- Minimum of 3 years' prior experience in the insurance industry, preferably with a focus on homeowner's insurance in Florida
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in any or all the following homeowner's insurance markets outside Florida is a plus; Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island, Virginia, Maine.
- Project Management experience with knowledge of project management techniques and tools
- Experience working with comparative raters
- Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML) or Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
- Website development experience working with content management systems, such as DNN and/or experience with employee, agent or insured portals.
- Experience working with the Duck Creek policy administration system.
- Experience using JIRA software, JIRA service desk and Confluence applications.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent computer skills with proficiently using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS SQL, Visio
- Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and apply logic to solve business problems and a willingness to dig into the details of specific projects to ensure the appropriate approach and best use of company resources.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have excellent presentation skills
