We are currently looking for a Lab Test Engineer with project management and data analysis skills who can executed and deliver precision testing of our fire and CO alarm products. In this role, you will focus on the product testing and and data analysis collected from a team of 5 additional test resources to ensure quality performance for our customers and agencies from around the world. You will also use your organizational skills to stay on schedule and help the team become more efficient. Join us today and be a part of a world leader in fire, safety, and security company.

Note: this position is intended to support the team by working 2nd shifts to increase the uptime of key equipment. Position is currently 4x9hr + 4hr Friday shift. Position will be 4x10hr Monday-Thursday starting early 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Meet with managers and project managers from other Carrier sites to understand testing requests, test product availability and shipment schedules, configuration management record keeping, and detailed report with concise summaries that will be reviewed by all levels of management
• Prioritize tasks and testing procedures to meet company and customer goals
• Oversee and execute official UL and ULC compliance tests for life safety products
• Execute validation and regression level tests
• Verify functional requirement on new product designs
• Track progress on program testing to ensure schedule goals
• Document product and procedure test results in an organized manner for leadership and co-workers to review
• Conduct root cause investigation on potential test setup issues
• Compile and report any unusual conditions or high-risk results that could affect the quality or safety of the product
• Follow-up with engineering teams on re-designed product or products that needed technical updates or changes resulting from non-compliant test results
• Review, test, and validate agency requirements for each product to ensure compliance to agency standards
• Collaborate with the team and share ideas on process improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in electrical or electronics engineering, engineering technology, or related field
• 2+ years of experience working as a technician or test engineer on electronic products in an engineering lab (years spent in product design could be applicable)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient using digital and analog testing equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes
• Excellent self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or testing lab environment
• Understands how to interpret schematics, installation sheets, and bill of materials
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with little to no supervision
• Interpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering and production
• General understanding of engineering equipment like soldering irons, hand-held power tools
• Possess an ability to work effectively under pressure
• Expert on Microsoft Office (especially Excel and macros in Excel)
• Possess a can-do attitude and seeks out ways to contribute to the team goal
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. without restrictions Preferred:
• 5+ years of experience working as a test engineer on electronic products in an engineering lab (combination of years spent in product design are also applicable)
• Experience and/or training in project management related activities
• Experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
• Worked in the fire and gas industry with knowledge of regulatory standards such as UL268//EN54
• Experience with LabVIEW
• Experience with new product development
