Job description
Waterfall Bank is a brand new community bank located in Clearwater, FL. We are looking for a talented and entrepreneurial Chief Credit Officer familiar with the Tampa Bay area to help build the credit department at the Bank.

The person in this role will be jointly responsible for the quality growth and profitability of the Bank's loan portfolio along with the Bank's Senior Lender and his team. This person will participate in the underwriting of loans and in loan decisions on major credits' providing direction to other lending officers. This person will build and manage credit personnel in accordance with the organization's policies, needs, and applicable laws.
Primary functions include:
• Managing the credit administration function to produce quality loan relationships that provide profitability and growth to the overall loan portfolio. Ensure the safety and soundness of the bank's lending portfolio, focusing on the production of new earning assets;
• Providing guidance to lending officers relating to loan policy, structure or unusual circumstances to include joint calling with the officer, assisting with financial analysis and/or conferring with legal counsel as appropriate;
• Support a culture of adaptability, responsiveness, excellent communication and customer service to ensure the bank best addresses its customers' needs;
• As needed, work with senior management to develop and implement loan products;
• Perform underwriting of select loans including employee loans;
• Identify potential problem credit and work to rehabilitate or move said credits out of the portfolio. Restructure credits, as needed with appropriate approvals;
• Educate credit and loan staff on lending policy and update on any policy changes if necessary;
• Provide reporting and status updates to Board or management, as requested regarding the quality of loan portfolio;
• Coordinate the Senior Loan Committee & Director's Loan Committee;
• Review approved loans and delinquency reports for compliance with established policies and practices. Manage past due and charge-off levels;
• Assure compliance with regulatory and government agencies. Serve as liaison with regulators and government agencies;
• Exercise the usual authority of a department head concerning staffing, performance, appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations;
• Demonstrate an understanding of and follow established Board policies, procedures, and regulations, including those defined by BSA, AML, CIP and OFAC, cognizant of transactions, inquiries that appear suspicious, obtaining reasonable and verifiable explanations, notifying the Compliance Officer when necessary.
The successful candidate should have Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or related field; 7+ years of experience in credit, lending and/or loan review. The candidate should possess extensive supervisory and managerial skills, strong financial analysis, and underwriting skills. He or she should have proven sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. The candidate should be detail oriented, possess time management skills, and is willing and capable to work independently or on a team. The candidate must display professionalism in appearance. The candidate will have an ability to communicate with solid verbal and written skills and possess superior organizational skills. This is a new bank so the candidate should have the ability to multi-task and learn new functions.
