Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Financial Analyst II for the Finance Department.

Summary

The Financial Analyst II is a member of the Corporate Finance team which assists with the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget, maintains the health system's decision support system and performs financial models and operational analyses for management on a recurring or ad hoc basis.

Job Qualifications

* Formal Education: B.S. or B.A. degree in finance, accounting, business administration or healthcare administration preferred.

* Two to three years of financial/data analysis (healthcare preferred) with experience in one or more of the following areas: Accounting, Budgeting, Cost Accounting, Decision Support or Governmental and Managed Care Reimbursement.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

* Experience with Strata EPSi, Meditech, Information Builders WebFOCUS and other decision support systems is preferred.

* Knowledge of reimbursement principles applicable to Medicare and other third party payors

* Knowledge of healthcare coding (UB-92, ICD9/10, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG, ect)

* High level of communication and technological skills is required as well as the ability to work independently with minimal oversight

* Must possess strong problem solving abilities, ability to analyze and prepare financial schedules and reports

* Ability to effectively interact with department managers and Corporate Finance staff.

* Ability to handle large volume of diversified work and meet deadlines.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Maintains in-depth understanding of Halifax Health operations, clinical functions and revenue cycle processes and correlates these activities to financial and statistical results.

* Provides routine reports as needed and prepares complex report writing utilizing the hospital's decision support system.

* Assists with managing major department projects such as the development of the annual operating budget, annual capital budget or/and annual external audit.

* Performs all assigned month-end closing tasks and reports with a high degree of accuracy.

* Assist with the development and maintenance of the hospital's decision support/cost accounting system.

* Performs related responsibilities as required.
