Job description

Bob Rude Structures, Inc., based in Fort Myers, Florida, has an immediate position available for a Structural Engineer. We are an engineering consulting firm that specializes in structural design, investigations, inspections and construction administration. We are seeking a motivated and energetic candidate to work on a variety of projects ranging from high-rise condominium towers to commercial, residential, industrial and institutional projects. Basic Job Requirements:

  • Graduation from an ABET accredited 4 year civil/structural engineering program
  • Structural engineering work experience ranging from 0-5 years
  • Proficiency with Revit software
  • Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI)
  • Ability to perform basic structural design work including reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and wood.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Windows
  • Capability to perform structural inspections (this may involve outdoor work, climbing and moderate physical exertion)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in the English language
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, organized, and dependable
  • Maintaining professional conduct and appearance as a representative of BRS
  • Collaboration with others including architects, owners, contractors, and consultants.


Bonus Skills:

  • Master's degree specializing in structural engineering
  • Current licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida, or possession of an NCEES record as necessary to expedite Florida licensure.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Enercalc and RAM Structural System.
  • Experience with finite-element modeling using ETABS and STAAD, including evaluation of structural dynamics.
  • Design experience with post-tensioned concrete structures using RAM Concept.
  • Understanding of advanced wind analysis methods and familiarity with the coordination and application of wind tunnel testing to structural design
  • Experience with complex or unusual structures
  • Ability to perform condition assessments and work on projects for restoration of existing structures
