Expected to perform all aspects of shelter customer service, reception, telephone, animal control and individual animal intake, lost and found pets, animal transfers, adoptions, and occasional events. Responsibilities include critical database management, record keeping, and multiple reports to City, County, and BOD. Oversight of cleanliness and maintenance of all public access areas to ensure readiness. Routinely networks with staff, volunteers, third-party groups and the general public. Must also be volunteer coordinator.

1. Customer Service

a. Respond to voice messages, emails, and answer incoming calls during operating hours.

b. Assist callers with compassion in trying to find lost pets.

c. Schedule appointments for individuals to reclaim their pets, coordinating with Animal Control as required, and process all paperwork and data entries.

d. Assist customers interested in adopting, facilitate animal introductions, interactively complete all application processes.

e. Prepare and document paperwork on all animal transfers, return to owner, or adoptions, ensure information is entered into database.

2. Administration

a. Maintain updated and accurate animal database. Provide daily animal summary as well as other reports as requested.

b. Oversight of cleanliness and maintenance of all public areas to ensure safety and readiness.

c. Receive, unpack and log all donations received from individuals or coming in via couriers. Remove from public areas as processed.

d. Balance and report on the front desk financials - cash and credit card intake daily.

3. Outreach

a. Work with local rescue groups as requested to facilitate timely transfers of animals to other agencies.

b. Acquire and maintain transfer agreements as well as paperwork on transfers.

c. Communicate with other animal welfare agencies in a professional and collaborative manner.

4. Other Duties:

a. Supervises and trains staff and volunteers on front desk operation in a professional and courteous manner.

b. Perform the duties of a Cattery Assistant as needed.

c. Conduct volunteer orientation, training and coordinate volunteer staffing.

5. Disaster Response

  • Working with Medical Director and Facilities Director, develop internal communication plan for disaster situations (call tree, text messaging, etc)

b. In the event of a major disaster, respond to the situation as outlined in the Emergency Preparedness Protocol.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Holidays
  • Weekend availability

All customers and employees are required to wear a mask. Surfaces sanitized regularly

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
