Position Details
Location: Miramar, FL ? Miami Metro Area
Salary: $23-$25/hr + OT
Shift: The standard workday in the shop is M-F, 730am ? 400pm. Overtime is paid outside the standard working hours at 1.5 X standard hourly rate.
Position Description
As a Workshop Assistant, you will have the responsibility for supervising, coordinating, and processing of the inbound, outbound, and inventory control activities within the warehouse. You will work directly with the Workshop Manager and/or the Workshop Foreman to assist and coordinate the overhaul or repair of customer property or equipment, to include ordering parts and materials, requesting purchase orders, and staging items for fabrication and repair.
You will assist machinists or other service team members with the setup of customer property. You will conduct daily, weekly, or monthly safety inspections of critical safety items, eg, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, AED/First aid equipment, safety routes, etc., correcting safety related issues immediately and/or reporting safety related items to the QHSE Dept for proper tracking and resolution.
You will oversee and/or complete preventive maintenance on critical work equipment, eg, company work trucks, forklifts, etc., as well as liaise with third party contractors to coordinate and complete maintenance and the repair of critical work equipment. You will monitor contractors while on-site to ensure company safety guidelines are followed. Additional responsibilities will include:
? Supervise, coordinate, and process daily inbound and outbound inventory control activities.
? Guarantee compliance with all safety programs and ensure a strong culture of safety in all functional areas.
? Coordinate inbound/outbound activities with departments and functional teams.
? Process inbound receipts and store accurately and efficiently.
? Unload trucks using a pallet jack and/or forklift.
? Record shipment data such as number of packages, weight, and job references.
? Examine shipment contents and compare with records to verify accuracy.
? Communicate with appropriate stakeholders to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, or specification nonconformance.
? Perform stocking functions and update system accordingly.
? Send appropriate communication to stakeholders.
? Maintain optimal warehouse space utilization.
? Process outbound shipments timely, accurately, and efficiently.
? Prepare and assemble orders in a timely and accurate fashion (picking and packing).
? Advise shipping method, service level, and rates for materials to be shipped.
? Prepare pick tickets, packing slips, and small parcel carriers? shipping labels to route shipments.
? Pack, seal, label, or affix BOL to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools and power tools.
? Process outgoing shipments of customer orders accurately and timely to meet customer expectations.
? Contact carrier representatives to arrange for or issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
? Retain responsibility for inventory control and accuracy.
? Initiate cycle counts and reconcile daily.
? Research inventory discrepancies and determine root causes by reviewing and understanding transaction history and product movement through warehouse. Identify and implement change improvements.
? Make necessary inventory adjustments to the predetermined authorization level.
? Ensure problems are handled immediately and with a sense of urgency.
? Maintain neat work areas and organized warehouses.
? Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
? High School Diploma or GED Required. Associates Degree preferred (business, engineering/industrial management, general studies, marine engineering management).
? Be able to and have the initiative to work individually or in a team environment with minimum supervision.
? Organization and time management skills.
? Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
? Must be able to lift 35 pounds ? greater than 35 pounds require a team lift.
? Warehouse environment may vary throughout the year.
? Must be willing and able to use a computer between 4-6 hours per day.
