Overview

Our Mailroom, Laundry, and Patient Property Clerk performs mailroom duties requiring the application of varied work methods and procedures. Requires the knowledge of postal procedures utilized in conjunction with facility correspondence rules and procedures as well as facility policies and procedures. In addition, inventories, logs, and stores patient patients' personal possessions. Ensures proper cleaning, pick up, and delivery of the facility's linen, and guarantees that the laundry work area is cleaned and sanitized throughout each shift.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent certification required

Experience:

Minimum of one-year experience in a clerical environment
Working knowledge of U.S. postal procedures

Licenses/Certifications:

None required
Responsibilities

Sorts, distributes, inspects and processes all incoming/outgoing mail and publications daily for all departments and patients.
Logs all incoming, identifiable legal special mail and packages. Operates a postage meter machine and other mailroom office equipment including a color copier.
Receives, inventories, logs, and stores all patients' personal possessions. Returns possessions to patients upon departure by reviewing store items, ensuring items match inventory, and requesting patient signature following distribution.
Ensures soiled linen is picked up and cleaned properly.
Meets the local Health Department standards on personal hygiene (grooming) and adheres to the infection control policy on sickness.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
