Job description
The Senior Business Systems Analyst analyzes business and information needs in order to design optimal systems solutions. Working under minimal supervision, this job designs system solutions that are appropriate for business needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization's information systems architecture. This job also recommends improvements to the existing IT systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Identifies and analyzes business needs, conducts requirement gathering, and defines scope and objectives of each project.
- Makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology.
- Translates business requirements into application requirements, and works with all members of the team to execute the application successfully.
- Engages client teams and explains moderately complex initiatives in an understandable manner, while also addressing any hesitations or concerns from the client.
- Estimates the costs of various system solutions and prepares project plans to provide input into decisions about prioritizing projects and allocating IT resources.
- Prepares and maintains technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.
- Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.

Sr. IT Business Analyst
TIAA Bank is seeking an experienced and adaptable technical Sr. Business Analyst to support our consumer lines of business and/or vendor relationship managers. In this role, your duties will include understanding both vendor and proprietary software programs that support stakeholders and their departments.
To ensure success as a technical business analyst, you should demonstrate experience and creativity in helping to provide and support core platforms. Outstanding technical business analysts combined with IT expertise with in-depth business knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Performing analyses on software programs, applications, and web services to solve business problems.
- Ability to understand and learn business processes, problems, and opportunities.
- Determining system efficiency and functionality by liaising with internal departments and end-users.
- Reporting to Management and obtaining approval for business solutions.
- Analyzing to recommend opportunities to improve performance, functionality for proprietary and/or vendor products.
- Responsible for managing a queue of work to support the internal line of business and/or external vendor.
- Able to participate on incident management bridge lines, working with expanded teams across business and technology to solve critical problems.
- Effectively support production as well as projects/enhancements.
- Ensuring high quality of internal and/or external delivery for the business.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience as an Analyst with business process and technical competencies
Preferred:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, and an accredited qualification in management consultancy, or similar.
- Knowledge of system integration solutions.
- Ability to facilitate internal end-user requirement sessions.
- Ability to understand and recommend business requirements to help identify solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills, bridging the gap between technical and business nomenclature.
- Knowledge of technical policies and regulations.
- Recommended knowledge of rule/configuration management for vendor products like FIS.
Potential Salary: $100,200.00 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
