SS&C Advent Software is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to help with the architecture, implementation, and operation of our Data Services suite of products. This position will focus on infrastructure and operational support, which includes monitoring and improving the capacity, reliability, consistency, and scalability of our production and development environments. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with Product Development and IT to build and maintain the software and tools used to troubleshoot and resolve issues within those environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Provision, maintain, and support business-critical production environments and their hosted applications by monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving priority escalations
• Write and maintain custom automation in a continuing effort to increase the efficiency and quality of our production environments
• Provision, maintain, and support the development and QA environments utilized by the Data Services Development teams
• Act as a technical resource for the Operations and Development teams during project planning and production escalations
• Participate in the engineering, planning, upgrading, and maintenance of the Data Services infrastructure
• Participate in Data Services software requirement planning and release schedules
• Ensure all disaster recovery environments are able to meet established RTO and RPOs.
• Identify and remediate potential network and security vulnerabilities
• Identify and recommend options for improving overall performance, maintainability, and operability of the Data Services application stacks

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Expert-level proficiency supporting, configuring, and deploying Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 in an enterprise environment
• Expert-level proficiency supporting and configuring additional Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, IIS, and MSSQL
• Proficient with automation and scripting technologies such as Jenkins, Chef, and PowerShell
• Excellent understanding and architectural knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies
• Experience administering cloud-hosted environments (e.g. AWS)
• Excellent working knowledge of networking and storage technologies
• Experience creating and maintaining complex Splunk queries and dashboards is a plus
• Knowledge of containerization (e.g. Kubernetes) is a plus
• Ability to work in an Agile environment
• Strong research and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation of system/application architecture and processes
• Focus on business partnerships and outcomes
• Self-starter and team player with a positive attitude
