Provides individual fitness assessments, exercise programming and one-on-one instruction for special and apparently healthy populations within the Fitness Center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Maintain established club and departmental policies, procedures, standards and objectives
  2. Adhere to Club Rules & Regulations
  3. Adhere to fitness industry code of ethics; shall not enter into gainful employment with a member or guest (i.e. do not solicit or conduct personal business with a member or guest as a private client)
  4. Greet and assist all members, guests and staff as they enter and leave the facility
  5. Develop and instruct appropriate exercise prescriptions for all populations
  6. Track and monitor progress and update individual exercise programs for clients, when appropriate and provide ongoing counseling
  7. Maintain a client file for all active clients to include the following: Health History, Waiver, Rules & Regulations, Physician Referral (if required)
  8. Arrive at least 10-minutes prior to start of first appointment
  9. Respond to all member and guest concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner
  10. Maintain a cooperative and professional work relationship with members, guests and staff
  11. Adhere to safety guidelines by putting away any used equipment during and after training sessions (fitness floor and exercise studios)
  12. Ensure the Fitness Center, Exercise Studios, Office and equipment are clean, well maintained and secure
  13. Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and recommend needed repairs to Fitness Manager or Department Head. (i.e. recommend all engineering work orders)
  14. Recommend all inventory requests
  15. Keep current with industry trends and make recommendations for program offerings
  16. Attend meetings as required
  17. Know emergency procedures of Fitness Center and be ready to take any necessary safety actions (i.e. CPR/AED)
  18. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, conferences and workshops
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Skills Required:

  • To successfully fill this position, the candidate must have a Personal Training certification from an approved national certification agency (NASM, ACSM, NSCA)
  • Minimum one year experience as a personal trainer.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Excellent human relations skills, oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organization and planning skills and must be flexible and adapt easily.

Educational/Misc. Requirements -

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous administrative/Receptionist experience preferred
