Job description

Insight Credit Union is looking for a passionate trusted financial advisor who is qualified and has the desire to provide an excellent service experience to our members.

A Senior Teller assists members with their financial needs including paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments, and referring credit union appropriate products and services. Responsible for mentoring employees, maintaining appropriate branch reports, and opening and closing procedures.

Compensation & Benefits:

Schedule & Training:
Shift includes 32- 40 hours per week between Monday - Thursday (9am - 5pm), Friday (9am - 6pm), and Saturday (9am - 12pm). Hours will be based on the needs of the department. The position provides a 3 week training at one of our training locations.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Displays friendly, professional demeanor. Required to greet each member with a smile, and refer to the member by name three times while conducting transactions. Uses strong listening skills to understand the member's needs. Build member relationships by identifying opportunities and refers a higher volume of credit union products. Monitors the lobby and assist waiting member with account maintenance when necessary.
  • Receives and processes/posts member/non members financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders and travelers checks to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed. Maintain member records. Researches and resolves any outages before reporting overage or shortages to management.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions to include end of day reports.
  • Mentor employees in Teller procedures and Acts as a back-up to Branch Supervisor in their absence. Assist Branch Supervisor by performing side by side observations of Tellers, leading teller morning huddles and sales meetings. Provides input for counseling Tellers on balancing difficulties and makes recommendations for resolution to Branch Supervisor. Maintains confidentiality when dealing with employees issues.
  • Assures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared, including Check Hold Audits, Teller Cash Drawer Audits and Retention Record. Assist in maintaining cash over & short log and reports out of balance conditions according to procedure under the supervision of the Branch Supervisor. Responsible for opening and closing the branch.
  • Responsible for maintaining cash machine where applicable.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience. Prior Teller experience within a Credit Union or Bank required.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills: Able to operate a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Must be good with attention to detail with numbers and names.

Physical Requirements: This position requires manual dexterity, bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
