Kelly Services is looking for a Remote Contract Tax Accountant for a Educational facility in Orlando, FL.

Job Duties:
Maintenance & Reconciliation of Records:
-Responsible for preparing and maintaining various tax records.
Payment Processing:
-This position is required to monitor and remit Florida transactional taxes for the university. This involves preparing workpapers for review; timely filing the proper documents with the appropriate taxing authority in the proper format and sequence; performing required analyses to determine appropriateness of payments & withholding requirements; interfacing with various taxing authorities to affect payments due.
Training / Guidance:
-This position is responsible for training accounting staff members on tax issues which may affect their departments, and recommend any business process changes as needed.
Reporting:
-This position prepares various tax filings. These filings may include, but are not limited to: Florida sales, communication service and tourist development taxes; Unrelated Business Income Tax; various information returns.
Assist in Interpreting and Applying Federal Regulations:
-This position shall make supervisors aware of any changes in federal regulations as they occur and the interpretation of these rules to assist in setting University policy on compliance and implementation.
Other duties: Other responsibilities as assigned to carry out the mission of the department and university.
Minimum Mental Qualification Requirements of the Position:
Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to apply textbook theory and applications. Must be able to read and interpret complex rules and be able to apply them to various situations and bring them to appropriate resolution. Masters degree in appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience or a bachelors degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.
Preferences:
-Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting, public accounting experience, and/or CPA license is preferred
-4+ years of progressively responsible experience in tax compliance
-Recent work history should include tax research and at least one of the following three areas:
1) corporate income tax reporting 2) Florida transaction tax reporting, and/or 3) not for profit tax compliance. Candidates possessing a combination of all three areas will receive greater consideration.
-Strong Excel skills are essential and PeopleSoft and/or query experience is a plus
-Demonstrated competence with extracting and compiling large amounts of data
-Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills are necessary
-Ability to multi-task and meet simultaneous deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
-Verbal and written communication skills necessary to prepare clear and concise correspondence and reports at a level appropriate for the intended audience
NOTE-We need a candidate with very strong Microsoft Excel skills. This position works in Excel for most tasks, therefore we are looking for a candidate that works in excel daily, and has years of experience using advanced excel functionality (e.g. Summits, VLOOKUP, Subtotals tool, maybe Power Query, etc.). The largest task for this role is utilizing raw ERP query data to roll forward/update prior month's workpapers, so we need a candidate that would be comfortable completing those tasks. Additionally, this role is for a corporate tax accountant that will be primarily focused on transaction (sales) tax, so we are hoping to find someone with some experience in corporate tax accounting and possibly some sales tax experience.
