Cox Automotive is currently looking for a Supervisor, Payroll to join our team in Maitland, Florida.

Job Summary:

The Supervisor, Payroll leads the processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll. This role will manage the team of administrators who performs payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate execution. This leader ensures the team is properly trained in their roles and that they use job aides, maintain and follow process documentation and operational procedures, and embeds peer review checks and audits as a first line to ensure accuracy and compliance. The Supervisor will work closely with the Payroll Intake and Services team to ensure that pay inputs are as clean as possible to ensure quick turnaround. They work closely with the Cox Enterprises Payroll team on pay distribution, taxation, garnishments and other holdings. As a member of the payroll and HR services team, this individual acts as a change agent and advocate for employing best practice operating model practices and driving transformational and continuous improvements. This role helps to form and deploy proactive solutions to emerging pay needs, including leveraging system and automation investments as well as people resources.

Your Role:

  • Supervise the weekly and bi-weekly processing of payroll for 30,000+ employees
  • Collaborate with fellow payroll leaders to create and apply end-to-end pay processing techniques and procedures
  • Maintain and continuously improve the payroll process taxonomy, operating procedures and related user- and administrator-focused content
  • Lead resolution of identified payroll issues and serves as an escalation point for payroll discrepancies or concerns
  • Apply deep knowledge of payroll systems and processes to solutions
  • Act as time and payroll data expert to apply understanding of pay, time, HR, service and automation knowledge to daily execution and project execution
  • Use understanding of payroll compliance, union, taxes and best practices to processing payroll accuracy
  • Instill peer review, system and process audits to identify errors before distribution and correct as needed
  • Ensures payroll service and process delivery continuity and consistency through schedule and performance management
  • Identify and escalate any potential pay disruptions and risks; works with other payroll leaders to anticipate and minimize risk or disruption
  • Represent payroll on large payroll issue management items across CEI and broader issues across HR services execution
  • Own deductions and earnings record to capture changes, new requests and discontinuation of processes
  • Drive proactive solutions and accountability within payroll production, special pays, career
  • Work across the Pay Capability team and across HR services to ensure end-to-end seamless employee experience and HR customer support
  • Manage team phone schedule
  • Actively manage ticketing system to make sure that SLAs are met
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in payroll.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll
  • Prior supervisor experience
  • Proven experience in processing pay for a diverse workforce of exempt and non-exempt employees; union experience; CPP designation
  • Experience working in a shared services environment with in-person and virtual resources
  • Demonstrated success in driving process transformation, reengineering and improvement
  • Proven skills in working with automation and cloud-based technologies; Workday, Kronos and ServiceNow experience
  • Experience in leading resources in a project or work setting
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail; experience in implementing peer review and auditing desirable
  • Ability to communicate and influence key stakeholders
  • Understanding of key pay compliance and obligations
  • Change and improvement track record
  • Canadian payroll experience
