Summary

Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine (BUSPM) is seeking a Part Time Laboratory Instructor for the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) program. The position, which starts immediately, is to teach in the Gross Anatomy and Lower Extremity Anatomy Laboratory courses.

The Podiatric Medicine program is accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education and Barry University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine is located in beautiful South Florida, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

The successful candidate will assist the Course Director in the teaching of the Gross Anatomy and Lower Extremity Anatomy laboratory courses in the School of Podiatric Medicine. Additional duties will include, but not be limited to, assisting the Course Director with the managing the anatomy laboratory and maintaining appropriate records for the State of Florida Anatomical board.

The position starts as soon as possible in 2021. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

US citizenship or permanent residency required. Relocation expenses may be considered for successful applicants. Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Course Director with the teaching of students in the Gross Anatomy and Lower Extremity Anatomy laboratory adhering to all COVID-19 protocols.
  • Assist with the evaluation of student laboratory performance based on pre-determined educational objectives.
  • Proctor laboratory practical examinations.
  • Assist with the grading of laboratory-based assessments

Qualifications/Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Anatomy or a closely-related discipline from an accredited university is required.
  • A minimum of one year laboratory teaching experience in a professional medical school setting including use of digital modalities is required.
  • Strong commitment to teaching a diverse population of medical students is required.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise in laboratory courses at the doctoral level.
