We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Business Development Manager. The Business Development Manager will develop and have ownership of the new business sales cycle which includes prospecting, engaging, and closing of new accounts and growing existing accounts within the Quality, Validation, Engineering and Manufacturing departments at life sciences companies, especially medical device, biologics, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical companies.


To be successful, the Business Development Manager must understand the processes and issues related to product development, technology transfer, validation, quality engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, and compliance, within the regulatory environment, as it relates to the manufacturing of life science products - with a focus on devices, biologics, diagnostics, and drugs. Must also possess significant experience and understanding of the data, technology and business processes used to address the risk and compliance needs within life science organizations. The Business Development Manager will communicate BioTeknica's value proposition and benefits in an impactful manner, to clients and prospects. The incumbent in this position, will demonstrate experience at managing a complex sales cycle and be experienced at moving within a fast-paced environment, leveraging expertise and knowledge across the organization, fostering collaborative ideas and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Manage business development including Sales and Marketing activities, including planning and social media development.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline of new opportunities that are vetted in conjunction with senior management
  • Meet or exceed agreed-upon deliverables directly related to sales goals
  • Assist with development and lead delivery of sales presentations
  • Work with clients and BioTeknica business partners to understand clients' businesses and technical requirements and refine service solutions to meet these needs
  • Work in a team-based environment for lead generation and proactively leverage existing relationships
  • Become a client advocate based on customer needs and competitive activities
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions including business intelligence and industry issues and trends
  • Use Salesforce.com to maintain client contact information, manage client communication, sales pipeline, and prioritize leads to effective closing
  • Use SharePoint to manage documents
  • Develop and write proposals with corresponding budget estimates
  • Respond to RFPs and coordinate proposal design with Principals and subject matter experts
  • Coordinate with internal steak holders or others as required by BioTeknica leadership team to develop sales and marketing strategies, marketing communications activities, collateral materials.
  • Maintain Marketing and Sales Plan Agenda for review at company meetings.
  • Develop/complete/adapt client confidentiality agreements/Master Service Agreements and upload to Salesforce database
  • Attend and coordinate participation in trade shows
  • Build relationships with independent BioTeknica consultants
  • Track client project payments
  • Work on short-term regulatory compliance/validation/quality engineering and inspection readiness projects
  • Willingness to travel domestically/internationally up to 25% of time
  • Assist Human Resources in identifying appropriate staff for projects
  • Other duties as assigned by the BioTeknica executive management team

Qualifications

  • A minimum 3 years of experience working and providing value-based solutions to the life science industry & FDA regulatory compliance environment. Life science engineering/regulatory compliance management experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales function
  • Experience in sales management, account management preferred. Ability to develop, analyze and assess sales and marketing processes including business social media (ex. LinkedIn, Constant Contact, Survey Monkey).
  • Deep understanding of how companies strategize, organize, and execute against commercial business demands in medical device and pharmaceutical industries a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred
  • Strong relationship, selling, and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, efficient, and process oriented
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently. Can handle dynamic changes and a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Willing to listen to guidance or suggestions from BioTeknica executive team, administrative team as appropriate.
  • Excellent organizational skills, records management, and documentation practices
  • Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
  • Uses degree of creativity in developing organizational models
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
