Counsel is responsible for managing all phases of legal work relating to employment matters in the United States and internationally for Restaurant Brands International US Services LLC and its affiliates, including the management of all litigation arising from these areas of responsibility. Counsel's responsibilities may also include work related to the legal aspects of our mobility and immigration processes and the Company's global compliance program. Counsel will supervise and manage one or more paralegals within the Legal Department and will interact frequently with members of the People Team, including the Chief People Officer, and other attorneys within the Legal Department. Counsel will also work closely with outside counsel. KeyResponsibilities: Advise management, People Business Partners and other in-house lawyers with respect to all employment legal issues, including business restructuring, employment policy development and application, worker classification, workforce management, discrimination and harassment claims, wage-and-hour and workplace safety Oversee, conduct and provide counsel on employment-related investigations, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly, thoroughly and appropriately Provide counsel on immigration matters throughout the employment cycle, including working with outside counsel to process visa and similar work permit applications Represent the Company, including working with other in-house lawyers and outside counsel as appropriate, at settlement conferences and hearings, mediations and in litigation of employment claims Advise on the employment-related aspects of acquisitions and dispositions of businesses Draft offer letters, secondment agreements, and settlement and separation agreements for employees at all levels Draft short term and long term incentive program documents and agreements Create and deliver management and employee training programs relating to employment issues Qualifications & Skills: Juris Doctor of Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school required Member in good standing of the State Bar of Florida or eligible for Authorized in-house counsel status Minimum of 5-7 years employment law experience, law firm experience required Strong drafting and negotiating skills Advanced knowledge of employment law within the United States Knowledge of employment law outside of the United States an asset, but not required Experience conducting and overseeing employment investigations Strong interpersonal and communication skills Highly organized and demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-tasking environment with high volume workload Collaborative, team-oriented approach Ability to identify, prioritize and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively Ability to approach complex legal scenarios in a thoughtful and analytical fashion Ability to explain complex legal concepts, build consensus, think creatively, and collaborate with clients to address business needs Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality in carrying out responsibilities Ability to build relationships across a large organization Restaurant Brands International US Services LLC (RBI) is an equal opportunity employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
