RBI owns three of the world's most prominent and iconic quick service restaurant brands BURGER KING, TIM HORTONS, and POPEYES.Responsible for leading a team in the development, testing and refinement of operational procedures for new and existing packaging and menu items for Burger King North America. Working closely with the marketing, culinary and quality assurance teams, the Ops R&D Director is responsible for leading a team that identifies the most effective and efficient operational procedures to ensure the delivery of the highest quality products to our guests. With a solid understanding of existing products, procedures and operations standards to serve as a baseline, the Ops R&D team conducts initial small wares and procedures validations in the RSC test kitchen. This is followed by further testing in company and franchisee-owned locations, monitoring the restaurant teams' ability to efficiently execute with minimal impact to key operations metrics. The Director of Ops R&D will also manage overall operations complexity by providing recommendations on a wide variety of operations and menu simplification tactics, and collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to align on and execute the changes. This position will frequently interact with key franchise owners and internal senior leaders in both formal and informal settings. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor team in supporting the new product development process and identifying existing improvement opportunities for existing restaurant procedures and processes Collaborate with franchisees, vendors and internal stakeholders at all levels to understand potentially competing business needs, and identify solutions to make efficient restaurant-level execution a reality Research alternative approaches, identify new resources when necessary, and innovate on potential solutions when no obvious ones exist Management of Operations Complexity Tool to objectively measure effectiveness of simplification tactics and identify opportunities to further reduce complexity Provide a Go/No Go recommendation to senior leadership on a wide variety of product and packaging initiatives, supported by relevant metrics and observations obtained in testing Support Operations Training and Execution teams in national product launches by providing a thorough transfer of knowledge gained from post-testing analysis and results Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, operations or a related field a plus Advanced problem solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to details Strong team leadership and project management capabilities, including consulting skills aimed at building consensus Solid understanding of the restaurant industry, 5-10 years of QSR experience is preferred Experience working with high-profile consumer brands, knowledge of franchisee business model a plus Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing time frames Restaurant Brands International and all of its affiliated companies (collectively, RBI) are equal opportunity and affirmative action employers that do not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, religion, age, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by local, state, provincial or federal laws, rules, or regulations.
