Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Loan Administration Audit Facilitation (LAAF) Team assists Loan Administration Business Units (BUs) with coordinating, implementing, and monitoring regulatory and business compliance obligations and overseeing the implementation and enforcement of risk management policies and procedures. LAAF's goal is to ensure compliance with regulatory and investor standards for the Loan Administration Department. The LAAF Team serves as a liaison between Loan Administration BUs and company-wide internal audit groups, such as Internal Audit, BLS Compliance, and BAM Compliance Department, escalating inquiries and requests; communicating issues and concerns; and recommending adjustments to processes and procedures to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. The Due Diligence Analyst analyzes situations to determine the root cause of escalated issues and identify gaps within established servicing processes. The LAAF Team is also responsible for managing the Loan Administration Audit Facilitation Mailbox, researching and responding to all requests in a timely manner.
Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Researches and generates Due Diligence Reports for Successor Servicers on outbound transfers; makes recommendations based on observations;
- Manages Loan Administration Audit Facilitation mailbox, researching audit inquiries and requests on various systems; conducts task and/or inquiry-specific research, identifies necessary next steps, and provides adequate and accurate responses and explanations to requestors;
- Examines loan servicing processes within the Loan Administration Department (Cash Management, Loan Review, Special Loans, Imaging, Escrow, Loan Boarding, Service Release, Process Integrity, etc.) for compliance with applicable regulatory and investor guidelines;
- Analyzes functionality and efficiency of tools and resources utilized by Loan Administration Business Units; Seeks understanding of what each system and process is expected to fulfill and identifies discrepancies;
- Investigates identified discrepancies using various research and analytical methodologies to provide root cause analysis;
- Designs action plans for remediation efforts, where applicable; conducts diligent follow up on milestone line items in remediation plans;
- Reviews daily control and exception reports; issues periodic findings and/or requests for remediation as applicable;
- Works with various lines of business to ensure escalated tasks are completed and escalated inquiries are responded to in a timely and accurate manner;
- Escalates issues and concerns in a timely manner while following proper escalation channels;
- Analyzes issue trends and develops method and processes to improve future inbound and outbound service transfers and overall servicing processes based on historical data;
- Assists with special projects assigned by senior management; and,
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, including V-lookup and pivot table functions; intermediate proficiency in Excel preferred.
- Strong knowledge of standard mortgage documents including origination, servicing, and modifications.
- Ability to interpret data and analyze problems; strong problem-solving skills.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to see tasks through to completion while multi-tasking.
- Flexibility in work hours allowing for extended hours when task volume requires extra effort.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in the mortgage industry.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending processes, procedures, regulations and standards preferred.
