Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide expertise in strategy development and execution, planning, and facilitation of Positive Employee and Labor Relations initiatives

  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the Human Resources field

  • Implement an effective Retention strategy through employee engagement assessment activities and regression analysis of exit interviews.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Provides retrieval ability to produce employee information for analysis and decision making, statistical data, and other employee-related reports as required

  • Ability to influence change and support in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) matrixed organization.

  • Proactive problem resolution in support of the PMO

  • Provide technical support to the HR Generalists at other Program subordinate sites, as applicable

  • Tactical & Strategic responsibility of the HR function

  • Resolve Employee Issues:

  • Vacation Banks

  • Employee Relations

  • Benefits' Issues

  • Tax Issues

  • Payroll Issues

  • Staffing responsibilities

  • Assist with the Labor Relations function

  • Policy review, interpretation, and recommendations

  • New Hire Orientation for applicable site

  • Salary Review/Analysis for Promotions/Reclassifications

  • Employee Communications through weekly calls and emails

  • EDS Approvals and Submissions

  • Special Projects and Process Improvements as needed

  • Ethics Investigations

  • Pro-Active and Positive Employee Relations

  • Pro-Active Approach on On-Boarding and Off-Boarding Employees

  • Pro-Active and Strategic Relationship with Functional Leads

  • Pro-Active Coaching, Mentoring, and Consultation with Supervisors/Managers

  • Training Facilitation

  • Proactively manage employee relations needs to support an environment of integrity, respect, collaboration, and effective communications

  • Use of Ultimate Software, EDS, Applicant Tracking, AutoTime, and other applicable HR systems

  • Deal with employees, auditors, and the customer in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.

  • Be thoroughly familiar with all requirements contained in a government contract, Instructions, manuals, and procedures that relate to HR.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.

  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.

  • Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual Information Systems

  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of Government-owned and Company-owned equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with established Company policies/procedures.

  • Provide data for Government CDRLs (reports) as required by Contract.

  • Must be able to utilize card files and common office equipment.

  • Responsible for adherence to and enforcement of the FOD Prevention Program.

  • Ensure compliance with required Quality Control policies and inspections.

  • Perform all other position related duties as well as other projects and initiatives as assigned.

  • Maintains the highest ethical, personal, and professional standards


Position Scope and Charter

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Management and At least 2 years of experience in human resources as a Generalist OR Associate's degree in Human Resources or Business Management and at least 6 years of experience in human resources as a Generalist OR High School Diploma and 10 years of experience in human resources as a Generalist.

  • At least four (2) years SAP or other HRIS experience required.

  • Some International Labor Law/Relations preferred

  • HR Certification from HRCI or SHRM preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of SCA and working US government contracts preferred

  • Extensive Generalist Experience

  • Strong Employee Relations

  • Independent root cause problem-solving skills

  • Must have an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint).

  • Must have basic computer skills and demonstrate the ability to type 30 correct words per minute.

  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate key information both orally and in writing.

  • Must have the ability to develop professional relationships with management, peers, employees, union, government agencies, and customers

  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts, and unpaid overtime as required.

  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.

  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.

  • Limited travel may be required.

  • As a government contractor, Vertex Aerospace requires all employees to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment in accordance with Executive Order 14042. Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office environment. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Must be able to maneuver/lift up to 20 pounds.
