Job description
Position Overview:
The Global Immunology Department in Sanofi Pasteur's R&D organization is seeking an Associate Scientist for its Human Immunology platform, which is in Orlando, FL. This position will serve as an integral member of a research team responsible for performing experimental in vitro and clinical exploratory studies to assess the immunogenicity, reactogenicity, and MoAs of vaccine and drug candidates. The ideal candidate will be required to plan and perform assays using established protocols and analyze/interpret experimental data from routine and complex analytical and immune-based assays with limited supervision by staff scientists. Associate Scientists are expected to exercise independence, creativity, and latitude when developing experimental study plans, performing experiments, analyzing data, and devising solutions for experimental and programmatic challenges. The ideal applicant will also be expected to assist staff scientists in assembling data for written reports and slide presentations. Associate Scientists are responsible for performing job functions while maintaining GRP and HSE standards and policies. The position requires work with human blood products.
General Duties:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding and application of fundamental scientific principles, theories, and concepts when performing experiments that contribute to project goals.
- Exercise independence in designing and performing experiments that comply with study protocols and maintain scientific norms to achieve goals set forth in study plans.
- With limited oversight, exercise creativity in devising new protocols and/or strategies to solve complex problems or optimize assays for stronger performance.
- Provide guidance to more junior personnel regarding protocol development and execution.
- Conduct immunological/cell culture assays in a biological laboratory environment.
- Work collaboratively across teams and projects.
- Adhere to standard concepts, practices, and procedures of working in a biological laboratory, including complying with Good Research Practices (GRP) guidelines.
- Adhere to industry and government standards regarding aseptic technique and safe handling of biohazardous materials.
- Collaborate on project experimental study plans, reports, presentations, publications, and patents.
Knowledge and Skill Required:
- B.S. degree with 4 years' experience or M.S. degree with 1 year experience in the life sciences.
- Demonstrated experience with cell culture methodologies is required; immunological assay experience is highly preferred.
- Must have permanent US Work Authorization
