Job description
EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest environmental testing firms in the United States, is currently seeking a Full Time Microscopist Microbiology for its Orlando, FL location. EMSL Analytical Inc. is a growing commercial environmental testing laboratory. No laboratory experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees! Experienced Microbiology analysts are welcomed to apply. Offering competitive pay.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples for fungus (air, surface, and bulk materials - viable and non-viable samples) and bacteria (water).
Analysis of samples using classical and advanced methods for microbial and bioaerosol analysis.
Record data in a specified manner.
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
Perform quality assurance/quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
Additional duties include approving final reports following quality control and client interactions.
May be required to cross train in asbestos analysis to meet business demands.

Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or Assocaites degree.
Some environmental microbiology lab experience is a plus, but not required.
Experience with air samples, surface samples and mycology is a plus, but not required.
Must be able to multi-task and adhere to requirements of the Quality Management System.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Must be able to pay close attention to detail and follow standard laboratory practices regarding quality control, laboratory equipment use and maintenance and documentation procedures.
Must understand custody client confidentiality.
Must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysis.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet client deadlines.
Must have good computer skills both in typing and MS Office.
Must be able to work some weekends and overtime if needed.
Available Shifts:
Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., extra hours and/or weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidate may be required to travel to another EMSL laboratory location for training purposes. More information to follow.
