Job description

The Alaka'ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Senior Systems Engineer to provide engineering design support for the life cycle sustainment of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) Battle Stations 21 (BST-21) program out of Orlando, FL.

DUTIES INCLUDE :

  • Using the systems engineering process to define the requirements for BST-21 and transform the requirements into a product.
  • Verifying and validating the functionality of the delivered product.
  • Supporting with System Requirements Definition; System Requirements Analysis; Traceability; System Architectural Design; System Implementation; System Integration; System Verification; System Transition; and System Validation.
  • Providing Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs).
  • Providing System Requirements Review-System Functional Reviews (SRR-SFR) to ensure the system under review can proceed into preliminary design and that functional requirements are defines and consistent with program cost, schedule, risk, and system constraints.
  • Conducting Preliminary Design Review (PDR) to ensure a system is operationally effective.
  • Conducting Critical Design Review (CDR) to ensure the system can proceed into fabrication, demonstration, and test to meet performance requirements within cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Performing Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) to determine if the system is ready to proceed into formal testing and whether procedures verify compliance with test plans and descriptions.
  • Coordinating a System Test and Evaluation (T&E) program to verify the integration of subsystems and equipment meet performance requirements.
  • May be required to travel.
  • Will lead a team of engineers with expertise in electrical and mechanical who will support a varied array of systems such as comms, lighting, HVAC, pumps, exteriors and special effects.
  • Supporting with documents such as Trainer Facility Report (TFR); Safety Assessment Report (SAR); Operations Security (OPSEC) Plan; Cybersecurity Implementation Plan; Technical Report - Study/Services; Product Engineering Design Data and Associated List (PEDDAL); Software Development Plan (SDP); Risk Management Plan (RMP); Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP); Requirements Traceability Verification Matrix (RVTM); and Test and Evaluation Program Plan (TEPP).

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least eight (8) years' experience in systems engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with Government Acceptance Testing.
  • Experience providing systems engineering support for training system modifications is preferred.
  • Experience with Navy, Navy training system, or Navy ships is preferred.
  • Experience with reviewing engineering change proposals (ECPs) or requirements documentation is preferred.
  • Experience providing systems engineering support for products or systems such as an Overall Supervisory System (OSS), Training Management System (TMS), Audio/Video/Lighting System (AVLS), Special Effects System (FX), Kidde Fire Trainers (KFT), Scenic View (SVI), or facility management systems is preferred.
  • Experience with technical documentation and technical data packages (TDP) in-process reviews is preferred.
  • Ability to assess a variety of systems and the interconnectivity/dependency of these systems (comms, lighting, HVAC, pumps, exteriors and special effects) is preferred.
  • Expert level experience in development of configuration management plans, and system specifications and drawings is preferred.

DESIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in systems engineering or a related field is preferred.
