Job description

K9s For Warriors is the nation's largest provider of service dogs to veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Our unique, in-house program helps change the lives of American heroes by pairing them with a battle buddy, who was likely a rescue dog and then teaching him or her to utilize that dog to mitigate the symptoms of their wounds. In order to continue the great work, we are doing, we are in need of a Property Maintenance Specialist to join our amazing team!

Basic Function

Under the general direction and supervision of the Chief Operations Officer, the Property Maintenance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and facility functions of the K9s for Warriors campus.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Perform minor and major maintenance of all buildings and equipment, unless out of the scope of employee licensure or experience.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building(s) and equipment:
  • Replace filters
  • Maintain HVAC systems
  • Repair leaks
  • Paint walls/ceilings
  • Diagnose problems
  • Inspect belts
  • Check fluid levels
  • Repair or replace broken parts
  • Maintain landscaping and landscaping equipment:
  • Mix and spray/spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees.
  • Mow and edge lawns using power mowers, tractors, and edgers/trimmers.
  • Replace decorative landscaping (i.e. flowers) as needed, apply mulch for protection
  • Gather and remove litter from the property
  • Install rock, cement, lighting, water, and furniture
  • Maintain sprinkler system and fountain systems
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and repair tractors and maintenance equipment according to manuals, factory specifications, knowledge of engines, and use of tools.
  • Assist manager with all duties related to property and repairs.

Other Duties

  • As needed, assist with projects or events that may be hosted on or off site
  • Weekend duty may be required

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Prior property and grounds maintenance experience
  • Carpentry and or similar skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on feet most of the day

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.25 per hour
