POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the general maintenance of the facility and grounds, including aspects of equipment safety and security issues as defined in the organization's Environment of Care Plans.
* Maintains and supervises grounds and equipment as assigned.
* Identifies environment problems and corrects or reports to appropriate person.
* Responsible for testing, inspection, repair and documentation required for assigned equipment.
* Ensures that broken or malfunctioning equipment is removed from service or patient care areas.
* Assesses and minimizes clinical and physical risks associated with medical equipment through inspection, testing and planned maintenance of equipment.
* Reports and investigates utility systems problems, failures or user errors that are or may be a threat in the patient care environment.
* Demonstrates knowledge of specific procedures for failure and/or disruptions of critical utility systems and alternate sources for essential utilities.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School or equivalent
* Trade School is helpful
* Three years of commercial or industrial experience in maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. One year or more practical experience in an accredited hospital engineering department.
* Customer service abilities including effective listening skills
* Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
* Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 100 pounds
