Our client is an award-winning residential design firm that has been family owned and operated for over 28 years. They produce plans for: new custom single-family homes, major residential additions and remodeling, townhouse developments and much more.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary duties of the Designer are to develop complete and comprehensive construction documents based from preliminary designs, sketches, schematics, etc. with minimal supervision as it relates to the residential construction industry. The Designer will also be required to produce and organize plans for a stock plan book. Coordination of projects with structural engineers, contractors, clients, etc. will also be required.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist in as-built & preliminary design drawings including: Site Plans, Floor Plans & Exterior Elevations Structural Design: Foundation Plans, Floor & Roof Framing Plans, Wall Sections & Details, Building Sections, Door & Window Schedules & High Wind/Flood Resistant Construction. Plan and prepare construction documents based from preliminary designs, sketches, schematics, etc. with minimal supervision Work closely with designers in office and structural engineers to ensure a properly coordinated project from start to finish Periodic job site observations during construction and field measuring of existing residences Communication with clients, contractors, engineers via telephone, email and in person.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:(to include, but not limited to)

Intermediate level in AutoCAD 2013 or later versions to create: Site plans, Foundation Plans Floor Plans, Elevations, Framing Plans, Sections & Details, & Electrical Layouts Knowledge in 2017 Florida Building Code, NEC, IBC, etc. Beginner level in BIM programs: Soft Plan, Archicad, Revit, Sketch up, etc. or equal program to create schematic designs and 3 dimensional perspective type renderings and construction documents. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc. Intermediate level knowledge of Florida residential construction standards and terminology Intermediate level knowledge in reading and understanding construction documents as it relates to Florida residential construction. Understand how a residential building is constructed from ground up and the construction elements of a residential building Creativity, organized, detail oriented, work well under pressure, handle constructive criticism, positive attitude, eager to learn, willing to go above and beyond standard daily tasks Pursuing or completed an Associate's or Master's degree in Architecture/ Drafting and/or Construction. (desired, but not required) 3+ Years employment experience in the residential design industry under the supervision of an Architect or Professional Building Designer.
