General Responsibilities

  • Supervises outside engineering design firms to develop conceptual and detailed designs for facility expansions and new facilities.
  • Supervises outside construction management firms to execute the construction of new facilities and renovations of existing facilities.
  • Prepares Request for Proposals (RFPs) for engineering services, construction services, and equipment fabrication services. Analyzes proposals and prepares comparison summaries to facilitate selecting the best company for the project.
  • Partners with Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality, etc. to build and expand a new GMP manufacturing site.
  • Prepares project execution plans, project schedules, and project budgets.
  • Drives engineering activities to efficient completion to enable handover to the company.
  • Provides technical support to the Facilities group and serves as a senior level subject matter expert on a wide variety of engineering areas.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • At least 7 years of proven mechanical design experience within Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Life Sciences industries (this is an absolute requirement).
  • Extensive experience leading the design and execution of capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP guidelines and requirements.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time and adjust priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to meet tight timelines and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and have a proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • Facility build-out and design experience.
