Job description

The Florida Senate Information Technology Office (Senate IT) is looking for an experienced and innovative Business Analyst that wants to join a fast-paced and innovative team, leading in technology and constantly evolving to support our stakeholders.

Salary: Starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This professional will be expected to:

  • Foster relationships with stakeholders to build a community of trust and gain knowledge.
  • Fully understand customer business processes.
  • Lead the discussion for feature design and functionality to improve the user experience.
  • Write user stories and manage a product backlog for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure delivery of requirements.
  • Communicate progress, obstacles and accomplishments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Background in business analysis, project management, or related field as well as experience in software development organization.
  • Experience in conducting thorough business process analysis to understand existing workflows and systems, document current processes and systems, create requirements for new processes, develop use cases, and manage requirement changes.
  • Ability to be an advocate for the user and provide usable and efficient solutions for their problems.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements and adjust to rapidly changing user requirements.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to understand and convey business priorities and the relative importance of their projects.
  • Able to identify multiple approaches to problem solving and recommend the best case solution.
  • Possess strong technical acumen with the ability to translate information and research into non-technical language as necessary to effectively communicate across to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control, Project Managers, and Technical Leads to ensure business acceptance.
  • Develop use cases as a key communication tool between the business and technical teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with agile software development, including Scrum.
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server / DevOps or similar work item tracking system.
  • Ability to process information logically.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work under deadlines.
  • Able to root out an issue and provide options to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willing to learn and discover.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, design skills, and ability to multitask.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
  • Progressively responsible IT work experience with web or application development can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Total experience must equate to a minimum of four to six years related to the position.
