Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 24 credit/contact hours per academic year at the undergraduate level. The candidate will teach introductory public health courses including health disparities, introduction to public health, and possibly epidemiology and/or biostatistics as needed. Candidates may also be assigned to other related departmental support courses as needed.

The Public Health program is seeking accreditation with the Council on Education for Public Health; candidates will be expected to teach courses in alignment with accreditation requirements and perform service duties to support this initiative.

The successful candidate is expected to mentor students with special emphasis on students in our majors, and to participate in service to the department, college, university, and broader community. Excellence in teaching and scholarship activity is expected. The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, as well as dedication and commitment to high quality and innovative instruction to undergraduate students.

Qualifications:

Applicants with a PhD, DrPH, or ScD in public health or a related discipline are preferred. ABD candidates are eligible to apply with degree completion by May 2022. Candidates with public health certifications/licenses are encouraged (CHES, CPH, REHS). Applicants with a focus on public health practice, health disparities and/or emergency management/disaster preparedness are preferred.

Teaching experience at the college level is required. Prior teaching and research experience with undergraduates is desirable. A personal commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and advising is essential.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in teaching a range of public health courses (i.e., health disparities, methodology/research courses, emergency management/disaster preparedness, and other related public health courses) and the ability to teach introductory health courses in our department. Candidates who have additional experience teaching epidemiology, biostatistics, research methods in public health, leadership and management, and other upper-level public health courses are preferred. Candidates with industry experience or professional experience in a public health agency or organization are also desirable.

Candidates are expected to have an interest in and the ability to teach courses at the introductory and upper-division levels. A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in lower and upper-division undergraduate courses is desired.

In addition, candidates who demonstrate experience in or desire to develop interprofessional practice, leadership, and collaboration experiences are desired.

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
