AVP, Actuary Strategic AdvisoryWhat you can expect:The Assistant Vice President role within the North American Strategic Advisory group at Guy Carpenter (GC) provides an opportunity to contribute to the design, development and distribution of client advisory solutions at one of the world's largest and most respected risk management and reinsurance firms. The North American Strategic Advisory group is responsible for providing valued, differentiating insights to our clients around their own growth, capital, and volatility management strategy.As a member of the North American Strategic Advisory group, the Assistant Vice President will work with actuaries, data scientists, data engineers, insurance subject matter experts, clients, and stakeholders from other internal groups to design and improve advisory products with the dual mandate of, (1) increasing the efficiency and value of advisory solutions, and, (2) driving the monetization of our advisory offering via newly designed and existing products for GC's reinsurance clients. The assistant vice president will serve in a highly utilized supporting role, interacting with other group members to facilitate execution on multiple workstreams and running analyses on various quantitative and qualitative subjects while occasionally delivering products and solutions to clients.What's in it for you?A company with a strong Brand and strong results to matchCulture of internal mobility, collaboration and valued partnership throughout the businessEmployee Resource Groups which provide access to leaders, relevant volunteer and mentoring opportunities and interactions with counterparts in industry groups and client organizationsCompetitive pay (salary and bonus potential), Full benefits package starting day one (medical, dental, vision, STI/LTI, life insurance, generous 401k match AND contributionEligible to participate in actuarial support programAfter six months, eligible for up to $10k tuition reimbursement per year and participation in our Employee Stock Purchase PlanWe'll count on you to:Create standardized and customized capital models to support clients' financial strength ratings and ERM processes using MetaRisk and/or TycheAnalyze impacts of various stresses on US insurers' balance sheets and financial forecastsAssist in commercial property reinsurance experience rating for client subject portfolios.Create, maintain and modernize internal tools that enable efficient gathering, reporting and presenting data for advisory solutionsPerform Experience Rating and Actuarial Analysis for clients using methods including Bornhuetter-Ferguson, Cape Cod, Chain Ladder, GLM and Mack.Produce reserving reports to support structured risk transfers for captive clients.Analyze industry catastrophe exposure and losses to support catastrophe modeling for clientsAcquire, review and transform data to facilitate advisory capabilities and offeringsBe a trusted leader and resource for maintaining and improving data in various cloud and on-premises data warehouses storing critical databasesDesign processes to improve efficiency and volume of data that can be analyzed to develop insights into clients' strategic opportunities and risksEstablish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clientsWhat you need to have:Master's or bachelor's degree in a technical field (mathematics, engineering, physics, insurance, risk management, etc.) from a highly respected institutionAssociate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) DesignationStrong emphasis on a desire to learn quickly and add value to team initiativesGood interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good relationships, working well as part of a team and for presentations and discussionsStrong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity as demonstrated through academic experience or work assignmentsAbility to contribute to both technical and non-technical discussionsExcellent English verbal and writing skills for complex communications with GC colleagues at all levels of the organizationGood ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc. and to deliver on required projects in a timely fashionDesire to take ownership of proposed and assigned tasks and to seek assistance when neededWhat will make you stand-out:2+ years' experience and programming proficiency in at least one of the following languages: R, Python, SQL, VBA, Mapbasic, C#, Powershell, Scala2+ years database design, ELT and maintenance2+ years' experience in insurance modeling in at least one of the following areas: ratemaking, reserving, economic capital modeling, reinsurance structure analysis / designProficiency in GIS analytics and an eagerness to design and implement mapping and GIS solutionsKnowledge of insurance accounting standards and frameworks: GAAP, SAP, RBC, BCARExperienced self-starter seeking to work in an Agile environment to facilitate the quick and effective fulfillment of group goalsExperience with risk evaluation modeling and/or building data productsGUY CARPENTERGuy Carpenter & Company, LLC is a leading global risk and reinsurance specialist with more than 3,100 professionals in over 60 offices around the world.
