About the Position

VHB's growing Southeast Environmental Services team has an immediate need for a junior level Environmental Scientist to join our growing practice in Sarasota, Florida. The successful candidate will get to work on a variety of projects across energy, transportation, real estate, and/or local government markets.

Responsibilities - specific responsibilities will vary by the specific natural resource or water resource discipline of the applicant.

* Office and field work with a focus on ecological and water quality services
* GIS mapping and data analysis
* Data entry and management
* Report Writing
* Client Coordination
* Field duties will include GPS data collection, water quality sampling, discharge monitoring, habitat mapping, vegetation monitoring, wildlife surveys and other field assessments

* Ability to work independently and as part of team in an office setting, remote field locations, and/or in challenging weather conditions
* Ability to travel on short notice, at night, and/or on weekend shifts, and potentially for extended periods of time

Qualifications

* 3-5 years of experience
* Proficiency in GIS desired
* B.S. in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field, a M.S. Degree can substitute for two years of experience
* Desired experience with mobile data collection including Trimble GPS products and software, knowledge of Florida plants and wildlife, and water quality sampling
* Only candidates who reside in Florida will be considered

This position requires COVID-19 vaccination per client requirements.
