Job description
ROLE SUMMARY
Pfizer's Global Business Services - Financial Services (FS) organization delivers best-in-class accounting, finance and compliance operations globally for the Pfizer enterprise. This organization is a high performing team comprised of more than 1600 colleagues primarily located in 6 hubs
around the world, in addition to an outsourced workforce of 250 people. The industry-leading
value proposition is to centralize, standardize and optimize complex processes

scope of services provided include Record to Report processes: US Accounting,
Corporate Accounting, Statutory Reporting, Financial Reporting, Intercompany,
Financial Master Data Governance, Risk Management & Compliance, Capital,
Inventory, Lease and Balance Sheet; Transaction Processing in Invoice to Pay, Indirect
Tax, Order to Cash, Credit Risk and Gross to Net; Operational Transfer Pricing; GBS
Treasury Operations, and MAPP Administration.
The Controls Optimization (CO) Center of Excellence is part of the Risk Management & Compliance function focused on governance and continued optimization of Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR). The CO Senior will be responsible for:
- Centrally monitoring control performance through SAP Process Control (SAP PC)
- Supporting compliance stakeholders in the execution of their required activities
- Educating user groups on control concepts including governance requirements and responsibilities, change management, process optimization and transformation, digital, audit and control performance reporting
- Partnering with transformational initiative teams (M&A, divestitures, etc.) to integrate control requirements into design
- Supporting stakeholders to ensure strong control environment is maintained. Stakeholders include Internal Audit, Controllers, Digital, Global Process Leads, Business Process Owners and the community of control performers and approvers.
- Supporting ICFR controls globally leveraging the SAP Process Control (SAP PC) platform
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will support and lead elements of the team's core responsibilities, including:
- Support Corporate Audit and KPMG in their execution of global control testing
- Support proactive risk assessment activities
- Develop and execute annual process documentation reviews by all control owners
- Complete periodic internal control evidence reviews including resulting reporting and remediation
- Complete annual control ownership verification reviews
- Support and govern control owner changes
- Support internal and external audit planning activities for all functional groups
- Globally coordinate audit activities and monitor and report on progress and remediation status
- Develop and deliver SAP PC user training
- Execute control escalation protocols
- SAP PC help desk and system administration services
- Deliver control optimization activities
- Maintain and communicate control best practices including global communities of practice
- Support remediation of control deficiencies
- Maintain complete and accurate tasks lists and status of open items
- Research and resolve discrepancies and complex technical accounting issues as necessary
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead the development of range of solutions
- Participate in special projects and other initiatives that are in addition to existing role and responsibility
- Compile complete and accurate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and SOX related internal control documentation involving new activities and/or process changes as required
- Engage directly with business partners on complex activities and deliverables; maintain effective relationships with business partners
- Identify issues proactively and communicate to manager along with potential range of solutions
- Willingness to accept occasional travel for meetings and projects
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor degree in accounting or finance required
- Master's degree preferred
- CPA required
- 4+ years of relevant functional accounting experience
- Public accounting experience preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Intermediate accounting and financial reporting skills that include the following:
- Demonstrated advanced technical US GAAP and financial reporting knowledge and experience
- Experience in managing or evaluating the implementation of ICOFR for SOX compliance at a global organization including experience in implementing or evaluating entity-level and process level financial controls including system and manual controls
- Understanding of IT General Controls as well as segregation of duties risks and controls
- Understanding of the COSO 2013 internal controls framework
- Advanced SAP and HFM skills preferred
- Proficiency in PC skills (MS Excel, Word, Power Point) required
- Excellent oral, written, and overall communication skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to informally coach and mentor staff accountants
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems in an unstructured environment
- Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and operations colleagues in all applicable Pfizer Finance and business functional areas
- Ability to perform and deliver in areas involving ambiguity
