Peraton is seeking social scientists experienced in working with a diverse team of linguists, analysts, and information operations (IO) planners to translate empirical research findings into United States Government operational assessments .The ability to work on a team in a collaborative environment is a requirement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing assessments, overseeing opinion research projects, visualizing quantitative data (e.g., developing histograms, trend graphs, etc.), and completing analytic assessment reports in the form of briefs, PowerPoint presentations, and direct inputs into C2IE (Command and Control in the Information Environment, a USG program of record). The candidate should also be comfortable working with research vendors to provide inputs for the design of both quantitative (e.g., surveys) and qualitative research (e.g., focus groups and in-depth interviews).
Roles and responsibilities for this position include:
Conduct assessments of the information environment, applying a combination of opinion research data, intelligence, operational reporting, and social media insights. Provide data visualization and social scientific analysis. Oversee design of opinion research and interpretation of findings. Examples of opinion research includes survey, flash polls, focus groups, and in-depth interviews. Prepare status reports, assess project issues and risks, and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develop, refine, and coordinate assessment and collection plans for active and future OIR series in the theater being reported in the Command and Control of the Information Environment (C2IE) system. Create, determine resourcing, and/or coordinate with stakeholders, the collection of social, cultural, economic, political, religious, and regional identified indicators through all available sources to assess approved MISO series. Review / analyze statistical data received from team members, other agencies, and author summary reports and/or present oral briefings for senior leadership. Review studies conducted by similar organizations and determine reliability, validity and other strength factors for potential use in theater. Contribute to methodology advancement for analyzing and extracting insights from large-scale qualitative and quantitative data sets to enhance comprehension of target audience behaviors and reactions. Create/lead innovative social science research initiatives, educate staff on proposed responsibilities, collect results from the implemented tasks, and report to senior-decision makers. Work independently or in collaboration with social scientists working in remote locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Masters degree in political science, international relations, area studies, behavioral sciences, sociology, geography, anthropology, or other related social science field. Seven years of relevant experience (with Masters Degree) or 5 years of relevant experience (with PhD). Work / research history demonstrating applied experience with data science approaches. Knowledge and experience in use of all Microsoft Office products. Willing and able to relocate to Tampa for the duration of the position. Willing and able to travel within the Middle East as required by the program. Current U.S. passport. Current TS/SCI clearance. Project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
PhD in political science / international relations, public policy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, behavioral sciences, social sciences and more than 9 years of applicable experience. Joint intelligence or operational experience with U.S. Geographical Combatant Commands. Demonstrated experience conducting structured, qualitative foreign policy analysis that integrates quantitative findings / data. Prior experience working Government based problem sets. Experience with campaign / operational assessments. Experience in working strategic competition / great power competition topics of interest.
