Overview

Halifax Health is seeking a Director, Revenue Cycle.

Summary

The Director, Revenue Cycle, under supervision of the Vice President, Finance leads Patient Accounting and Support functions of the Revenue Cycle for Parrish Medical Center. Provides leadership and oversight of Billing, Collections, Recovery Reimbursement, Managed Care, Customer Service, and Revenue Cycle I.T. functions. Provides onsite leadership for HIM, Patient Access and Parrish Medical Group to maintain teamwork between the front and back end functions of the Revenue Cycle. Develops and maintains policies and procedures, and workflows to ensure compliance and maximize collections. Assures patient and third party billing and collection issues are addressed timely, accurately and professionally. Demonstrates leadership by setting standards, mentoring staff, monitoring performance, improving operations, and creating an environment of excellence in execution. In addition, the Director will support Halifax Health in creating consistency between the two health systems and work on tasks as needed under the direction of the Vice President, Revenue Cycle.

Job Qualifications

* Minimum master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Accounting or other related field with a minimum of four (8) years' experience in revenue cycle functions
* Minimum of four (4) years' management experience in revenue cycle functions
* Proven knowledge in Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payor requirements and regulations
* Knowledge in a variety of EMR systems and software. Meditech and Athena experience preferred
* Must have ability to optimize and lead systems development and automation
* Demonstrated skill in critical thinking, diplomacy, and relationship building

* Highly developed communication skills, successfully demonstrated in effectively working with a wide variety of people in both individual and group settings

* Demonstrated problem solving and inductive reasoning skills, which manifest themselves in creative solutions to operational challenges.

* Organizes and manages work to achieve results and tracks performance so that problems are detected early or prevented entirely

* Exhibits a consistent commitment to continuous improvement

* Provides leadership as indicated by the ability to get individuals or groups to accomplish a task or accept an idea

* Demonstrates interest in employee development and ability in interpersonal communications, especially exhibiting sensitivity to employee needs

* Must be able to function and meet deadlines under stressful conditions

* The ability to maintain confidentiality; knowledge of HIPAA laws

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Maintains systems controls, documentation and information to ensure submission of bills and claims in a timely and accurate manner

* Ensures timely and professional follow-up on accounts to maximize cash flow

* Monitors all key performance indicators and acts to ensure all goals are met

* Provides operating statistics, daily, monthly and as requested

* Assesses operational effectiveness of all patient accounting functions and acts to improve performance

* Monitors DNFB, adjustments, write offs, and collections and gathers information to improve operations

* Establishes performance procedures, workflows, and key indicators

* Monitors performance to ensure that all claims and accounts are processed within established guidelines

* Provides necessary knowledge transfer tools and equipment for managers / supervisors and staff to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently, and maintain a competent staff

* Provides direction to design and maintain applications for all patient business systems

* Initiates additional support resources, including outsourcing, from outside vendors as deemed necessary

* Maintains a close working relationship with Halifax Health and Parrish Medical Center Technology Services to ensure appropriate maintenance of all business systems and resource sharing

* Prepares annual Revenue Cycle budget and operates units in a cost effective manner to control expenditures and meet budget

* Ensures that customer service needs are addressed quickly in a professional manner

* Acts to improve customer satisfaction based on patient/guarantor contacts and suggestions

* Maintains reliable, comprehensive and accurate cash controls to ensure timely and accurate cash applications to patient accounts

* Maintains personal professional knowledge and competency by attending educational meetings and seminars, reading related literature, and developing and maintaining personal networks

* Takes a proactive position with Parrish Medical Center and Halifax Health Leadership and Managers to assist in resolving issues, implementing changes, and suggesting improvements

* Schedules operational meetings on a regular basis to ensure active communications with all employees

* Demonstrates a positive and helpful demeanor with co-workers and customers

* Ensures completion of all employee evaluations in a timely manner

* Oversees capital equipment expenditures and corresponding property record keeping for Patient Accounting

* Provides counseling for corrective actions to managers and supervisors as needed

* Promotes positive relations between all Halifax affiliates and Parrish Medical Center leadership and departments

* Leads and displays Halifax Health Cornerstone principles and Parrish Medical Center mission and vision cultural principles

* Directs the assistance of patients in securing Medicaid and other third party coverage when patient is unable to meet his/her obligations

* Keeps abreast of all regulations and standards to ensure compliance with orders or directives issued by duly constituted governmental/regulatory agencies or third party payers

* Regularly reviews aged trial balance of open accounts

* Keeps abreast of all federal, state, and local regulations relating to the extension of credit, billing, and allowable follow up procedures

* Develops Managers / Leaders

* Performs other duties as assigned
