RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Renewable Power Group ("RPG & quote;) is a rapidly growing team which invests client capital in clean energy assets, including solar and storage. The team sits within Goldman Sachs Asset Management ("GSAM") Credit Alternatives, a boutique investment platform with approximately $8 trillion under management. RPG benefits from an experienced team of solar industry veterans and significant financial backing, which has resulted in meaningful growth since the team was founded in 2017. We have long-term plans to be among the world's largest owners and operators of clean energy assets, and are therefore looking to hire a VP level Procurement Lead for the Technical Operations team out of Boca Raton, FL office.
Day to Day Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Drive best-in-class global sourcing of PV and BESS systems and components including photovoltaic modules, energy storage components (battery racks, enclosures, EMS), racking, inverters, transformers, SCADA system, de-commissioning services, amongst others
* Create and follow best practices and processes for large scale procurement.
* Own and drive the RFP process and contract negotiation strategies that deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers. Develop innovative and market leading contractual terms such as for capacity warranty.
* Develop and implement strong supplier development and relationship management processes.
* Monitor and evaluate the risk of geopolitical and regulatory initiatives that impact the supply chain and develop the mitigation or contingency plans for the sourcing options. For example, managing and optimizing tariff strategy for battery components and working with vendors to select appropriate tariff commodity classifications.
* Synthesize market intelligence with internally gathered information to perform forecasts and roadmaps for major equipment.
* Negotiate and execute master agreements, service agreements and purchase orders in support of company projects.
* Manage the execution of individual purchase orders through a team of Supply Chain and Logistics Associates.
* Analyze and manage risk in contracting with vendors.
* Provide timely guidance of technical specification and commercial terms to Engineering, Finance, Legal and other functions to ensure the development of an integrated approach to contract negotiation.
* Create and implement appropriate performance metrics for external suppliers, and the internal procurement organization.
* Maintain supplier quality standards to ensure the Company's quality requirements are met.
* Partnering with Engineering, Diligence, and other functions, perform manufacturing audits/inspections as part of the vendor qualification
* Implement and maintain vendor database with for both PV and BESS including pricing, equipment specs, battery degradation curves, warranties, amongst others.
* Provide strategic guidance on equipment logistics, including shipping, trucking and other transportation methods. Build relationships with logistic companies.
* Work with manufacturers on production slot roadmaps and ensuring equipment is manufactured, tested, and delivered to meet project schedules.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in Technical Procurement and Contract Negotiations.
* BSc Degree required; MBA preferred.
* CPSM or equivalent a plus.
* Expert knowledge of renewable energy engineering documents, such as MSA's, LTSA's, Capacity Warranties
* Strong product knowledge of PV modules, solar inverters and integrated BESS solutions.
* Experience in global sourcing and international negotiations
* Understanding of the inner working of module and BESS suppliers and the PV and BESS supply chain.
* Understanding of the technical/commercial terms and their impact on projects
* Experience with a solar energy or BESS developer or solar EPC contractor
* Familiarity with evolving quality factors and trends within the PV industries
* Experience with sourcing and equipment/material negotiation
