Overview



Barton Associates is currently seeking a skillful and driven desktop support engineer to join our IT Infrastructure and Support team. The selected candidate will be a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization's desktop computing environment. In addition to having excellent hands-on technical skills related to installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and systems, we're seeking an Engineer with an exceptional personality who will fit in with our team and work well with our sales department.


Responsibilities


  • Oversee, install and support the use of peripherals and desktop software. Support the use of internal and external web-based applications including required configurations
  • Install new laptops, desktops, thin clients, printers, smartphones and other peripherals. Design, develop, document and enforce hardware policies and standards
  • Create, manage and maintain standard desktop images and installations
  • Diagnose hardware problems. Perform and/or coordinate the repair of hardware
  • Maintain the inventory of hardware and software
  • Support the use of operating systems and software applications including, but not limited to, Windows, Microsoft Office, VMware, and Adobe applications. Maintain and enforce software policies and standards
  • Setup and maintain user accounts in Active Directory. Support the use of Windows Group Policies and Active Directory Organizational Units (OUs). Maintain and enforce security policies and directory standards
  • Analyze, assess and respond to requests for assistance for the entire enterprise in person or via remote support tools. Escalate problems and requests as appropriate



Qualifications


  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational certification required
  • A minimum of 2+ years desktop support experience in a Microsoft environment
  • Experienced working within a "follow the sun" support model
  • Proven ability to provide telephone-based and in-person support for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Proven ability to interact with all levels of employees
  • Ability to demonstrate multi-task time management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to and proficiency in customer service culture. Exhibits and champions excellence in work habits and a willingness to embrace change
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10, the Microsoft Office suite, Google for Work, and Avaya VoIP technology
  • Experienced with Active Directory
  • Administer servers across multiple sites and geographies
  • Familiar with SaaS based infrastructure
  • Self-Starter who can work effectively independently or within a team
  • Extra Credit: Knowledge of LAMP stacks, Amazon Web Services, Avaya Telephone systems, and scripting
