Lead Maintenance Technician (*Full Time - NON-EXEMPT*)

The Norton Museum of Art is seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Norton Museum of Art presents original and traveling exhibitions of art, focused on five areas: Contemporary Art, American Art, European Art, Chinese Art, and Photography. The Museum also offers educational programming designed to serve the Museum's diverse community.

JOB SUMMARY: The Lead Maintenance Technician will support the Building Operations Manager in maintaining all facilities, including maintenance of equipment, along with assisting vendors, contractors and janitorial services. This position will also be responsible to fulfill the duties of the Building Operations Manager when they are out of the office as well as being a part of the hurricane team that stays onsite in the event of storm watch/warnings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for monitoring, inspecting and troubleshooting all HVAC equipment and controls, and providing reports of status to Building Operations Manager.
  • Perform minor repairs related to electrical, plumbing and commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Monitor, adjust and maintain proper climate control set points using the Building Automated System.
  • Create, maintain and archive trend reports for galleries, and provide to Registrar as needed.
  • Check and replace burnt out light bulbs and ballasts.
  • Assist janitorial crew with the overall cleaning of all areas of the NMA facility, including bathrooms, galleries, offices, store, support spaces, public spaces, building exterior and sidewalks.
  • Prepare and paint all surfaces throughout the NMA facility, as indicated by a maintenance schedule or the Building Operations Manager.
  • Assist with the general maintenance of exterior spaces including parking lot and garden.
  • Perform light carpentry work as requested.
  • HVAC filters and maintain a log indicating date filters were changed.
  • Routinely check facility for potential general maintenance problems and correct them. This includes mechanical function of all maintenance equipment.
  • Report any irregular activity in facility to the Building Operations Manager.
  • Communicate with all staff and visitors in a clear, efficient, and effective manner utilizing the appropriate tool, including computers, phones and CB radios.
  • Assist other staff with setup and breakdown of tables and chairs for events.
  • Assist with the overall security and safety of the property, its contents and staff and visitors.
  • Assist contractors performing maintenance work in the facility.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commercial HVAC experience preferred. Including chillers, boilers and cooling towers.
  • Experience with Building Automated Systems for climate control.
  • Operate general maintenance equipment, including drills, saws, hand tools, table saw, drill press, ladders/lifts, motorized/manual forklifts, vacuum cleaners, extractor, buffer, wet mop, and brooms in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be proficient in computer in Windows environment.
  • Good communication and proactive customer service skills.
  • Experience in appliance repairs and plumbing.
  • Minor carpentry and electrical knowledge preferable.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five day/40 hour per week schedule which may include weekend.
  • Must be available on-call.
  • Must be able to work some nights/weekends for special events.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
