Job description

This job is part-time, 28 hours a week, Tuesday-Friday.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and operation of the museum gallery, scheduling of tours, scheduling of docents and gallery attendants, and processing all museum memberships. He/she may fill in for docents and gallery reception volunteers when needed. He/she may also assist the curator with providing tours for school groups and other groups as needed.

The Volunteer Coordinator handles all recruiting, interviewing, and orientation training for volunteers. He/she is responsible for training docent volunteers on current tour techniques, the history of the museum, and Polasek's life story and work, as well as providing information on special exhibits at the museum.

He/she manages the scheduling of volunteers for various responsibilities within the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, including special events. He/she maintains accurate records of community service volunteer hours.

The Volunteer Coordinator processes all museum memberships and maintains membership records in database.

He/she manages all gift shop and gallery sales and is responsible for maintaining inventory of gift shop items, re-ordering materials, and developing new merchandise.

Responsibilities:

· Open and close museum

· Coordinate volunteers for daily shifts, ensuring coverage for all slots

· Check in with volunteers at the beginning of each shift; Cover volunteer shifts in gallery or as docent when volunteers are unavailable

· Recruit and train new volunteers

· Maintain volunteer records in Past Perfect database and enter hours weekly

· Make tour reservations including daily house tours, group tours, etc.

· Communicate with and organize volunteers for activities and special projects

· Manage the museum gift shop and museum sales

· Process all museum memberships and send a welcome letter and membership cards by mail; Accurately maintain membership records in database

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Proficient in Microsoft Office & Google Drive

Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers

Willingness and flexibility to adjust hours to accommodate needs of the job

Professionalism and strong attention to detail

Preferred: Museum and/or Volunteer Management Experience
