The Head Teller coordinates customer service functions within the Branch which includes monitoring customer flow, operating the teller drawer, researching and resolving complex customer service matters and ensuring operational excellence and compliance within the Branch. The position is responsible for training and coaching Tellers for optimum performance and demonstrates the Ameris Vision, Purpose, Expectations and Values.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Strictly adheres to Bank Secrecy Act requirements and applies organizational policies and procedures in all activities.
• Supervises the operations of teller functions which includes establishing staffing schedules, performing audits, providing input to employee performance evaluations and monitoring compliance.
• Provides prompt, professional customer service to customers and prospective customers.
• Operates the teller drawer and performs advanced, specialized teller functions including researching cash discrepancies and handling complex customer transactions.
• Works to understand the root causes of complex customer service issues. Identifies and implements resolutions.
• Approves policy exceptions within authorized limits.
• Performs regular audits of teller activities maintaining signed records.
• Trains and coaches a team of Tellers.
• Responsible for Vault transactions and balancing Vault and ATM.
• Maintains knowledge of banking products and promotions.
• Responsible for performing accurate transactions, balancing each day and verifying cash totals.
• Scans daily proof work to the remote capture machine.
• Identifies customer needs, cross-sell and up-sell opportunities and makes referrals within the Branch.
• Ensures adequacy of currency and coin supply.
• Practices ethical sales behaviors in accordance with Ameris's core values of Integrity and Honesty; always acts in the best interest of the customer when offering additional products and services.

• Successful completion of Teller training program and passing score on training post-test.
Industry and Work Experience:
• 3 or more years of experience as a Teller in Retail Banking or equivalent customer service and cash handling experience.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Sales experience preferred.
Academic:
• High school diploma or GED required.
