Job description
This unique position is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to be part of a new and creative way to train CDL drivers. Lazer Spot, the leader in Yard Management, has designed a remote driver training center based in our corporate offices in Alpharetta, Georgia. Using the latest technology, we have outfitted a number of vehicles around the country with the ability to interact with newly hired associates for training purposes. The Driver Trainer works with the trainee through audio and visual connections, all displayed on a state-of-the-art trainer's console. It's like a training simulator but it is real driving with you observing and coaching. This position requires strong training skills, high level of comfort in using interactive technology, and outstanding communication ability.
Instruction:
• Assess student backgrounds and learning abilities through pre-training review
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Follow the training plan and topics developed to promote safe effective learning environment.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of the equipment and following safety processes.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students by completing the training evaluation feedback
• Assure that students meet all skill/course expectations.
• Provide appropriate and honest feedback progress to the student.
• Provide remediation training
• Inform management of student issues such as: behavioral, academic, or personal
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• A high school diploma or GED, CDL and five years of driving experience with at least two years as a trainer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
All Driver trainers should demonstrate the following:
Knowledge Required
• Considerable knowledge of CDL requirements.
• Considerable knowledge of equipment with a focus on yard spotters
• Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports.
• Computer applications related to the work.
Skills Required
• Exceptional driving and training skills.
• Command of the English language. Command of the Spanish language - a plus
• The ability to be flexible in scheduling.
• Demonstrate outstanding instructional skills and the ability to adapt to individual training needs of each student.
• Patience (lots and lots of it).
• A Genuine friendly attitude and strong desire to train, coach, and counsel.
• Must be able to work independently. However also be able to take direction when it is given.
