Team Overview

The Regulatory and Risk team is part of the broader Americas Onboarding-Contracting organization. The primary focus of the team is regulatory oversight of existing processes, risks and controls (e.g., internal audits, regulatory reviews), the design and implementation of new processes to support regulatory changes, and leading remediation efforts in response to identified gaps and or issues. The team maintains a close relationship with Legal and Compliance, the broader Onboarding teams, as well as other teams focused on Regulatory Oversight.

Role Description

  • Analyze current processes and workflows and provide input on changes to improve risk mitigation and/or in response to regulator or internal requests
  • Perform remediation work on a large scale, including reconciliation of metadata across multiple systems vs legal documentation
  • Project manage remediation projects and/or coordinate seamless hand-off to other internal groups
  • Extract contract terms for existing relationships
  • Identify in-scope populations for analysis and remediation efforts
  • Work closely with other partner groups on new processes and process development
  • Participate in related working groups
  • Develop expertise on regulatory drivers behind processes and procedures impacting contracts
  • Serve as resource to the Contracting team for related queries
  • Assist the team in analyzing and responding to audits and operating events


Experience/Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with, or curiosity about learning about, legal contracts used in the asset management industry
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills
  • Proven skills in successfully handling competing demands
  • Strong communication skills - written and oral
  • Knowledge of the asset management industry (fund types, client base and strategies, operational set up and products) and applicable law and regulations
  • Comfort in working with multiple data systems
  • JD or equivalent experience is a plus


Proficiencies:
  • Ability to independently run tasks and workload with some mentorship and oversight
  • Ability to think out of the box, to navigate complex internal processes and functions, and be able to offer practical solutions
  • Proven ability to balance client needs with BlackRock policies and operational procedures; possess regulatory and technical awareness in order to understand associated risks and provide innovative, risk-free and compliance friendly solutions; improve the client experience
  • Ability to be a great teammate is crucial
  • Possess the ability to adapt to internal processes and requirements
  • Open to new challenges; able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest standard and attention to detail
  • Strongly proficient in standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and interested in new technologies
