The Opportunity:


Roark is building out its FP&A function to support continued growth. We are seeking a FP&A Associate reporting to a senior member of the Finance team. Roark principally follows an LBO strategy investing across a number of sub-sectors using multiple capital vehicles including traditional closed end comingled Institutional LP funds, co-investment vehicles, parallel fund complexes, AIVs. These vehicles are all managed through a traditional General Partner and Manager construct. The FP&A associate will work closely with the Director of FP&A Valuations to develop financial models to support the firm's performance reporting and planning efforts spanning both Fund and General Partner / Management Company. Critical to the role will be an ability to help in the development of a dynamic economic portrait of the firm by providing thoughtful analysis to multiple stakeholders both internal and external to Roark. The role will require extensive interaction with multiple functions across the firm including, Investor Relations, Fund Accounting and Tax, Valuation, as well as Legal and Compliance.


Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Play a key role in coordination of firm's Investor Reporting and General Partner forecasting processes
  • Identify and capture key data from multiple sources including Fund Reporting, Tax, Valuation, Investor Relations and Investment teams; ensuring this data is pooled within a centralized FP&A function in a form that will allow for the generation of enterprise wide analysis shareable amongst a broad group of stakeholders
  • Work with senior leadership to understand its ever changing information needs and build the underlying foundational models that will allow for rapid generation of analysis to meet these needs
  • Assist in building dynamic fund models, both on a liquidation and "hold to planned exit" basis, which incorporate asset level exit, fund expense and waterfall and translated into key output metrics: IRR and ROI (Gross and Net), DPI, RVPI and TVPI
  • Assist in the development of a dynamic corporate model integrated with fund models that provides, detailed analysis and support for Management Company revenues, expenses and AUM. This model will incorporate industry standard metrics: Fee Related Earnings, Distributable Earnings and Economic Net Income.
  • Assist in the development of models to accurately track carried interest and other forms of profits interest (accrued and realized) for the account of the Management Company
  • Work closely with Roark Controller to report Management Company / General Partner budgets
  • Aid in the development of fund level analysis to enable firm leadership to better understand return impact arising from differing tax structures
  • Be an active participant in the build out of enhanced processes designed to improve the speed and efficiency of our financial analysis function


Qualifications

  • At least 2 years experience of detailed financial modelling and analysis either within the Investment Banking, Transaction Services (ideally Big 4), Corporate Finance or Corporate Planning space
  • Excellent financial modelling skills
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of investment products, alternative investments and securities operations is a plus
  • Knowledge of the economic model / structure of an alternative asset management firm is a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in the use of tools such as Alteryx designed to improve the speed and accuracy of data flow across dynamic models is a plus
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with little supervision in a fast-paced, high performing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility to accommodate changing priorities
