What You'll Be Doing
The Network Engineering Manager manages the daily activities of the Network Engineering team and is accountable for system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components. This highly visible role is a representative of the Information Systems team and establishes, fosters, and maintains positive business relationships with Shepherd co-workers; interdisciplinary workgroups; clinical and financial department representatives; vendors, service providers, Epic partners; and all other who use or interact with the Shepherd Information Systems staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manages and actively participates in the day-to-day operations and administration and support of complex wired and wireless local and wide area networks.
- Directs staff in rapidly recognizing, identifying, isolating, and resolving problems with information systems products and services.
- Recommends hardware and software and/or systems upgrades and modifications to leadership.
- Participates in the development of and implements policies and procedures and ensures their conformance with information systems goals and Center objectives.
- Directs the installation, testing, and setup of new network hardware both physical and virtual (firewalls, routers, switching, monitoring) hardware and software.
- Direct hands-on experience with Cisco ISE, Prime, FTD, Catalyst, and Meraki Wireless cameras and access layer switching.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant new technology as assigned to qualify for use.
- Ensure that all voice/fax lines/PRI/SIP; redundant ISP data circuits and enterprise-wide center cabling are well documented for reference and ease in troubleshooting.
- Experience with cloud-based providers of telephony solutions, or migration to.
- Effectively manage the Network Team. Foster a positive, respectful working environment that clearly defines job roles, duties, and expectations.
- Regularly establish goals with staff and provide feedback, encouragement, evaluation, progressive discipline, and direction to optimize high performance teams.
- Leads projects involving interdisciplinary teams, adhering to center policy, regulatory requirements, and standards of best practice.
- Holds routine meetings with team members, partners, vendors, and managers to document and discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end‐user concerns, upcoming milestones, and project status updates.
- Designs, builds, validates, and maintains detailed system configurations.
Required Minimum Education
College degree a plus but not required, Military IT background also a plus.
Required Minimum Certification
CCNP a plus, as we are a Cisco/Meraki environment.
Required Minimum Experience
Minimum five (5) years of Cisco and Meraki technical, implementation and rollout related experience. Experience in extending networks to Azure/AWS. Experience working in the healthcare industry or mission critical industry is preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
- In-depth knowledge of network security and physical security operations (cameras).
- In-depth knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of network infrastructure.
- Hands on experience in local and wide-area networking, routing, and switching.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple groups and interacting with various teams to achieve successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively set milestones, meet deadlines, and work in a self-directed fashion to accomplish assigned tasks under tight time frames with little room for error.
- Analytical thinker and problem solver.
- Ability to discuss technical terms in ways that non-technical individuals can understand.
