Building Based School Substitute

The roles and duties of this position can be a mixture of substitute teacher and/or substitute paraprofessional. The difference being where substitute paraprofessional educators work under the direction of the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. They are also known as school aides, teacher assistants, instructional aides, one-to-one aides, and more. And a substitute teacher will act as the lead of the classroom, not as an aide.
ESS is hiring a Building Based Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional for each school in Wayne County. This position is full time, M-F throughout the entire school year! Your role and assignment may change daily, however, you will report to the same building each day.

Paraprofessional Certification highly encouraged
Previous experience in the classroom (K-12) needed
Responsibilities
Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
Assist teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class
Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
Supervise students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs
Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration
Must be able to work M-F and fulfill a full-time role in the school district as an ESS employee
