Responsibilities

The Laboratory Shift Supervisor is primarily responsible for the daily laboratory operation and oversight of the specific shift that he or she is assigned. Their technical expertise will serve as a resource to the technologists/ technicians and assistants within the department as well as the Physicians, Nurses and Patients who are our customers. Secondary responsibilities include all Human Resource functions including scheduling, payroll, and performance evaluations, etc, if applicable.

Weekend Supervisor: Friday, Sat, & Sun 7pm-7am; no holidays and no call.



Job Requirements:

Required Minimum Education: Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or related subject.
Required Minimum Certification: MT, HT, CT or equivalent from an accrediting agency approved by Georgia
Department of Community Health. (ASCP, HHS, AMT, AAB or another agency approved by Georgia Department of
Community Health). AAB Certified individuals must have completed a formalized training program that includes clinical
rotations or have 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a hospital laboratory. Persons who possess the
technologist qualifications and have recently moved into the state or have recently completed the academic and
training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified once as technologists for eighteen (18) months to
afford the persons an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination.
Required Minimum Experience: Minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience in laboratory medicine with a Bachelor's
degree or 3 years' experience of pertinent experience in laboratory medicine with a Master's degree in laboratory
medicine. Supervisory experience is preferred, but not required
