Responsibilities
The Vice President Human Resources (VPHR) is expected to be a credible leader and an engaged partner with leadership teams at WellStar Health System. As a member of the System Human Resources team, this position is the top HR position at the WellStar North Fulton Hospital.
North Fulton Hospital includes the following:
• 202-Bed Hospital
• Level II Adult Trauma Center
• American College of Surgeons Verified Trauma Center
• Outpatient Surgery Center
• Outpatient Services, including Medical Imaging, Wound Care & Hyperbarics, Rehabilitation Services
• Sleep Laboratory
• Certified Stroke Center
• Approximately 900 employees
The VPHR has strategic responsibility for developing and maintaining a high-quality, comprehensive human
resources program that supports the institution's mission, values and strategic plan. This is a high visibility, hands-on
leadership role with opportunity for significant organizational impact. Deliverables include:
• Developing an HR Strategic Plan for North Fulton Hospital
• Enhancing effective human resource support and services
• Achieving HR service delivery and operational excellence through an HR consultant model
• Building organizational capability and talent bench strength and increasing organizational trust
• Directing workforce planning and management
• Partnership with North Fulton administrative team to deliver high quality patient services and a world-class
patient experience
• Driving and sustaining an "Employer of Choice " initiative
The VPHR will have oversight and implementation of successful programs for employee relations,
employee/management counseling and coaching, employment and on-boarding, EEOC charges, unemployment
hearings, legal issues, employee complaint investigations, employee activities, the exit interview process analysis,
human resources metric analysis such as turnover analysis, etc. This leader will utilize demonstrated expertise in all
HR functional areas such as change management, performance management, talent management, engagement and
trust strategies, and process improvement strategies.
As a member of the North Fulton Hospital administrative team, this individual serves as a member of the interview team for leadership positions, guiding the hiring and onboarding of leadership. Assumes administrative on call responsibility. Provides guidance and advice regarding patient satisfaction initiatives. Serves as a liaison regarding physician/provider concerns. Participates in community planning, such as expansion of services and physical location.
The VPHR is responsible for strategic and tactical balance, and achievement in driving HR service delivery and operational excellence to facilitate the Employer of Choice strategy as well at world-class healthcare to the patients and communities served by WellStar Health System.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor degree Human Resources, Business, or Related field with commensurate experience.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or Related field strongly preferred.
Preferred Licensure/Certification: Prefer PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
Required Minimum Experience:
- 7 - 9 years strong human resource experience in all functional areas of human resources. Background in complex and consensus oriented environments are valued.
- Experience in a large health care setting and/or high performing organizations is preferred. Hospital experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with all facets of HR, including but not limited to, employment practice, Joint Commission requirements, immigration, recruiting, employee development, employment law, and workforce planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. The core competencies required are integrity, teamwork, results orientation with a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
- Must possess sound business and financial acumen. Experience dealing with strong personalities and balancing the interests of many for mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Ability to navigate a centralized strategic structure balanced with a strong hospital administration team. Demonstrated skills in influence and holding leadership team members accountable. Deep understanding of state and federal employment law, Joint Commission requirements, and governance requirements for not-for-profit organizations.
- Labor relations and union avoidance experience preferred. Extensive employee relations experience, compliance, regulatory, and management experience.
