Accounts Payable Clerk

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for performing daily general accounting functions to support the preparation of accurate financial statements and execution of accounting processes related to invoicing, collections, payables, payroll, taxes, and account reconciliations as directed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Managing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs

- Scan invoices into a software program

- Print Check List for payment

- Print Checks for signature

- Analyzing workflow processes

- Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors

- Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures

- Processing due invoices for payments

- Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment, and other charges

- Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries, and reconciling books of account.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Competent in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

- Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills

- Must be flexible, self-starter, change-oriented, self-motivated team player

- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's in accounting or Finance or relevant years of experience in lieu of

Experience: 3+ years of accounts payable experience (Transportation experience highly preferred)

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE USED:

- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Quickbooks

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Group environment working alongside others

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Normal office requirements such as sitting while working on computer, typing, answering phones, and light lifting.
