PROPERTIES CONTROLLER

Established in 2003 as a commercial real estate brokerage firm with its headquarters in downtown Chicago, this company evolved into a vertically integrated enterprise. Today, it is comprised of 4 major operating business; commercial real estate & hospitality holdings, business services, asset & investment management, and corporate finance services with over $3B in assets.

SUMMARY

The Controller - Properties will work under the supervision and direction of the Corporate Controller. She / He will provide day to day leadership and development supervision to department. Supports organizational goals by leading team to provide high quality, accurate and quality results in monthly reporting and accounting functions while promoting excellence. Focusing on department goals, initiatives and maintain the property accounting group's policies, procedures, controls, and resources for both owned and 3rd party real estate assets.

PRIMARY TASKS

  • Accounting and reporting for all properties including the maintenance of their general ledgers, fixed asset / job costing sub ledger, lease administration and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Timely and accurate monthly close, reporting and issuing of financials that adheres to company policy and procedures related to GAAP.
  • Ownership of Fixed Asset / Job Costing module, depreciation, WIP and etc.
  • Work with Asset and Property Management groups to ensure accuracy and adherence to capital expenditure policy for Fixed Asset / Job Costing system.
  • Oversight and control of month end close, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting needs of the organization as directed.
  • Prepares financial reports, issues procedures, conducts analysis and develops organizational financial policies for property accounting group.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS Accounting or Finance
  • CPA Required
  • 6+ years of experience with 2 years at audit firm (preferred)
  • Proficient with GAAP related to Real Estate & Fund accounting
  • MS Office Suite, Knowledge of MRI G/L a plus
  • Excellent communication, integrity, and ethical behavior traits
